Great location and friendly staffPosted Aug 2, 2015
The front desk is open until 11pm, but I required a late check-in. Minutes after informing the hotel/guest house, I received a reply saying this was not a problem - putting my mind at ease. The staff were great for the duration of our stay and advised us on how to get around the city and advised us of some cheaper really nice restaurants just off the tourist track. Saffron a couple of blocks away was a good shout. Plaza de Catalunya is approx 8 minutes walk away, so the location is great. The only downside was the noise from the traffic from around 6am and the noise of the A/C which needs to be on in July when staying in Barcelona. Breakfast choice is limited but does at least provide you with some coffee, and a bowl of cereal or some toast. You do need something a bit more substantial if you're walking around the city all day. Overall though it was a pleasant stay and cheaper than staying in the chain hotels and The Moods has a bit more personality.

Relaxed and Welcoming StayPosted Jul 10, 2015
The Moods is an unconventional hotel/guest house type of hotel, so it's best for travelers who are looking for that experience. Each staff person I met was friendly, professional and provided personalized attention to guest's needs. Elisabet was especially kind, welcoming and helpful in giving suggestions on places to visit according to my travel needs. It was a very relaxed atmosphere and the breakfast provided was pretty substantial for such a small, independent establishment. Other guests were similarly respectful and quiet, it's not a chaotic hostel-like atmosphere. It was clean and had nice decor with small touches of Spanish style architecture. Patio's are not especially private, but a lovely addition to the hotel stay to have some outdoor space to enjoy a coffee or breakfast in the morning. I'd definitely recommend The Moods for people of all ages - great location for walking around and getting to the heart of city center activity. Thanks for a great stay, Moods!

Simple accommodation, perfectly placedPosted Jun 24, 2015
Pros: Convenient, comfortable and very well staffed.
Cons: The air conditioning fan could be quieter, and tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. The TV did not have access to non-Spanish channels.
Location: Very handy for the excellent Metro system, the Paseo de Gracias, shops and cafes. A short stroll to the main shopping areas round the Playa Catalunya.
The hotel got off to a good start by communicating with us in good English even before we left England. The hotel is actually one floor of an apartment block. Very simple in facilities, those facilities are excellent and immaculate and the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is well placed on the Rambla Catalunya, not a five minute walk from two major Metro stations, and 15 from the main Playa Catalunya. Even closer is the major artery, the Paseo de Gracias, with three of the key Gaudi buildings close by. A leisurely stroll down the shady Rambla Catalunya and across the Playa Catalunya puts you at the head of the famous La Rambla itself. We walked miles, and made good use of the ten trip Metro tickets, the Tourist Bus and the pavement life. The hotel was a haven to return to with modern electronically controlled air-conditioning on tap. The beds were very comfortable (not too soft!). The curtains were true blackout ones, and when the windows were closed, they were almost soundproof. The free WiFi works well. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Very good location, quirky B&B-style hotelPosted Jun 7, 2015
This is not a typical hotel, it's a small family-run place on one whole floor of the old building in which it is housed. The building, along with the rooms, is full of character and really enjoyable. The stay includes free daily breakfast in a nicely-decorated hall. Overall the main attraction of this place would be the interiors and its very good location. On the down side, it is apparent that the staff is not professionally trained, as their attitude towards guests is highly dependent on their mood (possible reason for the hotel name, maybe?). That's not to say they were rude, just that at times they were very eager and happy to talk to us and give us details about the hotel and the places to visit in the neighbourhood, and at other times they just couldn't be bothered and they would barely answer. As an example, when we checked in we got there a bit late, around 11 pm. I let the guy at the reception desk who we are, and all he did was ask to scan our passports and requested us to pay the tourist tax. No "welcome to our hotel", no question about how our flight was or any small talk, no confirmation of how long we'll be staying with them... nothing. The first 5 minutes there were very awkward because of this, it was more like us reporting for duty and being registered. Only after he completed this process did he actually start talking to us. Anyway, if you don't let this type of thing affect you (and we tried not to), the hotel is very nice to stay at.

Prime location stay in BarcelonaPosted May 31, 2015
Pros: Great location, clean, helpful staff
Great city to visit for the sights, sounds and food. We had four wonderful days exploring and dining, stayed in an excellent hotel in a prime position. Close to metro, easy walking to shops & restaurants. no frills hotel but very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast you get a good choice and variety. smallish bedrooms but adequate for a 3-4 night stay, would recommend to my friends and family and would use again.

buona posizione per visitare quasi tutti i luoghiPosted May 30, 2015
Pros: la pulizia e il terrazzino
Cons: la prima colazione
Location: vicino alle Ramblas e alla metropolitana. Casa Batilò a 10 minuti
sono un buon camminatore e in una settimana ho usato autobus e metro una decina di volte soltanto. Come ho già detto prima i quartieri Passeig de Gràcia, La Ribeira, Barceloneta, El Raval La Rambla e Barri Gòtic sono raggiungibili in 20-30 minuti a piedi. Buoni i ristoranti a la Barceloneta " tapas " ragionevoli i prezzi ( 15-20 €. p.p. ).

comfy room, helpful staff, great locationPosted May 28, 2015
Pros: location, balcony, staff
Cons: Either dont give people the tablet or give one that works sans Wifi. After 3 tablets neither one worked properly. It was more fristrating than helpful
Location: Casa Batlo, Sagra Familia, shopping
Really helpful staff with directions, advice and in general. Would stay again! The Samsung tablet was totally useless though. The tablet experience was awful from registering to using it. Just bring a smartphone and catch Wifi when you can.
