I was a bit skeptical when I read "best hotel in the americas". It was certainly the best hotel I ever stayed in over 40 years of traveling. It is closed to outsiders not staying at the hotel so it is not overrun and the staff is there to serve the hotel guests only, and boy oh boy do they do it. I can only say if you are anywhere close, stay there. It is heaven.

In the middle of a lake

Surrounded by an awesome forest is the Hotel Llao Llao. It's far from town, but that's not why you're here. You can go on great hikes and walks immediately out the front door. the staff is amazing, and the amenities of the hotel generally are great. Cons - the hotel rooms are a little small and clearly old. the hotel otherwise is old, but charming. Would have been nice to have a heater with a thermostat instead of just a radiator.

Pros: The views
Cons: The food
Location: Asroundingly beautiful
Oudoors is 6* but indoors doesn't quite match up (and the restaurants are someone short)

LLao LLao is about 25 minutes from the town of Bariloche. The hotel is exceptional and the views are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen. We truly never wanted to leave! If you can the Moreno Wing is worth the $$$'s.

The hotel is one of the best we have ever been. The location is fantastic, the surroundings, the views, the indoor/outdoor pool and the activities are wonderful for those who like outdoor activities, nature and a quiet place to relax.

The Llao Llao is one of the very best hotels I ever stayed at. Their web site sets an expectation which they well and truly deliver on. Patagonian style and tradition in everything and in a most beautiful setting. All of the Spa and Activity offerings are excellent. I'd recommend Bariloche and the Llao Llao to anybody looking for a base to explore the Argentine Lake District.
