“Beautiful Hotel from 1927”
For travelers who like beautiful architecture, this is the hotel for you although the bathrooms were messed up by modernizing them and the furniture is new (ugh). The service is excellent, the restaurants are excellent, the waiters and bellboys go out of their way to serve you.
Although there are no photographs of Carlos Gardel (he stayed at the hotel on June 4, 1935), I recommend it very highly. He is the reason I chose this hotel and was very disappointed not to see any photographs displayed around the hotel.
If you need to speak to a general manager, do not go to this hotel. I was given the run-around and left the hotel without being granted a meeting. How could this happen? Very bad customer relations.
You will be charged some kind of insurance, every day, although you will find out about this when you check out. Surprise!
Also, the best - us smokers can choose a smoking room too!
Will definitely go back to Barranquilla and to this hotel although the heat is monstrous (but the rooms are air conditioned so do not panic).
