“Friendly home away from home.”

This was a delightful bed and breakfast. The staff was friendly and efficient. It was off the main street, so very quiet and in a charming "locals" neighborhood. It was easy to navigate the city by tram which was a short walking distance from the hotel, and the hotel provided a tram pass .The common kitchen for breakfast and evening tea was comfortable and well equipped. There was a good selection of delicious food. It was nice having a low key atmosphere where we could linger and visit with the other guest. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and delightful to talk with. Even though we had a room with the bath in the hall, it was private for our room;so no worry about lining up for the shower. It was newly renovated and very clean. Due to train delays, we arrived late at night, so we chose to take a taxi from the train station; it would have been difficult to find without a good city map and understanding of the tram system if it was your first visit. It was nice that we were able to email the B & B prior to the trip and let them know our expected time of arrival, and we told them to hold our room if there were transportation problems.(we've experience train difficulties in the past)..they had received our email and were waiting up for us with a welcome cup of tea and a comfortable room.

transport card for all trams and buses in Basel is given to all tourists,so the hotel location is not a problem.Trams and buses offer a very good service. excelent and quite neighbourhood. staff very friendly,the hotel is a very small B & B/guesthouse,breakfast is good and plentiful(only cold dishes) including boiled eggs.Juice is good and not watery.

“Mediocre.”

The property was very clean and in a quiet area of Basel, very near two tram stops. Breakfast was help yourself with a selection of bread, rolls (only two of these and no more produced), jams and marmalades, orange juice (when I could persuade the other guests to part with the jug), cereals, apples. There was a coffee machine which took swiss franc pieces (after waiting a staff member grudgingly provided some tokens for this). Very noisy pipes next to the room I was in so shared in everyones late night showers.
