I have traveled to Basel for many years now. This hotel meets my vision of what I need as a business traveler. A small hotel with a great location to catch public transport and easy walk to good restaurants. Facilities are new and that is a big plus. Very fast internet connection that never sagged. Public space done in a nice minimalist style. Nicely provisioned breakfast. A big plus for me was the hotel staff--superb in a single word. I got great value for the money paid.

The hotel is "new" but lacks any character. The lobby is plain and unwelcoming and the adjoining lounge/restaurant noisy due to tiled floors. Our standard room was very tiny. We were given the ground floor next to the laundry/kitchen area. One side of the bed was pushed to the wall, so that there was about 2 feet on the other side to walk and get into the walled shower/bathroom area. The heating and lighting did not work properly and we had to ask for a space heater. Because of it's location, we could hear lots of clatter from the nearby kitchen/restaurant/laundry work areas. During a late afternoon nap, someone entered our room by mistake, using their key without knocking. The young receptionists were not knowledgeable about the surrounding area, at least enough for tourists. Overall, we were really displeased with our choice and believe it is way overpriced when comparing it to other more seasoned hotels.
