“Magical location”

Such a magical location and superbly clean with wonderful breakfast buffet. First time I have stayed in a cave - surprisingly luxurious. Enjoyed a meal in La Bottegha just down the road. Will return!

I was so delightfully surprised at the location - right in the middle of Matera's Sassi. It was beautiful, quiet, impeccably clean, stylishly charming and the service wonderfully gracious. Gourmet breakfast, incredible views. We wholeheartedly recommend the Locanda di San Martino!

“Center of the Sassi”

This hotel is in an amazing spot. Balconies overlook the Sassi giving great photo opps in the twilight. Very peaceful and quiet! Only thing i would suggest is entrance to the pool be included in the price. This hotel was the experience I was looking for, sleeping in the Sassi!

“Superb in every respect but for a few too many flies in the room, which can't be helped in a farm,”

Superb environment and facilities with terrific service and attention from the owner. Great breakfasts but dinners fell short mainly because the fascinating menu was too large for the limited number of guests; the cooks couldn't maintain sufficient amounts of fresh food. Lecce is a bit of a drive and the nearby beach areas are right out of The End of Tomorrow but it's a great jumping-off point for the heel of Italy. We would go back in a heartbeat.

“A Modern High-Design Cave”

In the middle of a sight you can't believe you're seeing because of it's earthy crudeness the Locanda provides a fashionable breath of fresh air. The "cave" that was our room was large, open, bright, and very comfortable. Its all new with high ceilings, a bathroom with glass doors and enough room. Breakfast included the usual Italian spread of pastries, cereals, cheese, meats, etc., all in good quality. The location is excellent.

“Fantastic location in the Sassi”

The hotel is in a fantastic location in the Sassi. The views from the rooms was incredible, especially at night. Don't worry about the parking, or lack of parking at the hotel. We dropped off our luggage then the hotel arranged to have our car driven to the offsite parking garage and had it returned when we were ready to depart. You won't need it for the duration of your stay in Matera. I can't wait to go back to Matera and will definitely stay here again.

Well situated to wander the Sassi. Breakfast simple but excellent and plenty of it. Very good value, we stayed two nights - restaurants virtually on your doorstep.Thoroughly recommended.

This hotel for me was perfect in every way. It's located in the heart of the 'Sassi' - the ancient part of Matera with easy access to shops and other amenities. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are spacious, well laid out, and most importantly immaculately clean. The breakfast spread was varied and superb. If you are going to visit Matera, stay here you won't regret it.
