Hotels.com stated check in was until 6pm (which is early). We arrived before then. Reception closed. Eventually managed to locate a safe box which had key. Great system but no communication before. Room ok. Basic. Asked to strip the bed when left (this is a 4 star hotel). Check out was stated until 11am, but reception only opened at 9am. Wouldn’t recommend.

The first thing that I noticed was a smell when I walked in. The second was that I'd been in such a hurry booking that I failed to notice the lack of A/C, which isn't pleasant in August (fortunately, my room faced the ocean and had a good breeze) - lesson learned: never book in a hurry (I didn't rate down for this)! What I will rate down for is that the sofa bed in my room was nowhere near as nice as the photos, the bed was only "ok" and the pillows were awful. On the upside, the rooms are very spacious for France, the staff were nice and the pool was good. The free WiFi was fine on a phone, but on my computer, it was so slow that I couldn't even use Gmail. They also have you strip your own bed and empty your own trash, which I found strange. In short, not worth the weekend price paid & for sure not what I'd call 4*

Good familly resort
Convenient location to visit the local area. Hotel is casual family style with kitchen. The room we stayed in has probably the largest balcony of the whole complex, we enjoyed tremendously. Watching sunset from our balcony with a glass of wine is extremely enjoyable. Condition of the place is average, there are plenty of supplies of pot and pans without any kind of supplies of soap or sponge or rag for cleaning, minimum supply of amenities for bathroom, only 1 roll of toilet paper for our 3 days of stay. No cleaning service provided. Breakfast was good and inexpensive. Free shuttles right in front the hotel to go into city of Biarritz is very convenient. Swimming pool is very nice and clean. If you are looking for some relaxing time without much services, it is a good place to be. Plenty of private parking near by.

Not worth the price
We had to pay 15 euros for a travel cit which i was not expecting. The hotel has an excellent location and the staff were friendly. However the room was more like a budget hostel not a 90 euro room. There was 1 small bottle of water and 2 plastic cups with some sachets of shampoo. The shower was a wet room and the water did not drain so the bathroom was soaking wet still the next day. The tilling in the bathroom had sharp edges and was not very safe. Over all I would compare this to an ibis budget hotel which is fine if the price reflects that but it does not

Very good location, by the beach.
Our stay was pleasant enough because of the location, by the beach, though we have only partial view. Towels & bed linens were only provided one time. They claim they only change it if you stay more than two weeks, it will cost 9 Euros for 2 clean towels, & for 7 peoples, money is adding up. we stayed 5 - 6 days. We have to do all the cleaning ourselves daily & at the end of stay. No air conditioning, we can not leave the patio door for safety reasons. It would have been good at list every other day or 2 to have clean towels & cleaning as well.

Perfect location, staff amazing 5star for service
Location is great for place Marbella (quieter beach) and also only a few minutes walk into the town centre, with many cafes and shops/ beaches on the way. It was our third time in Biarritz and the staff were really helpful with local knowledge and booking taxis when needed etc Our room was a studio for two of us but when we arrived there was an extra bed too which was perfect for the two of us staying, as well as bath and a private patio overlooking the sea -even though we were told we didn’t have sea view! It was too cold to go in the pool however the sea views are amazing there and very well protected safety wise for children We will definitely return and can not fault the hotel in anyway

Good value for money.Very dog and child friendly,
Fantastic location with view of the coastline waves,surfers and sunsets. Large well looked after grassed areas for exercising dogs. Nice pool and sunbathing terraces. Extras crazy golf, table tennis, tennis court Apartment a good size, clean and bright with lovely terrace.Good restaurants are a short walk away.Would have benefited from free internet in all areas not just in reception but the only critism

Great location and great views.
The accomodation was fine; we've stayed in French Residences before and they are never particularly luxurious. However we had a great time because the Residence was in such a good location. We asked for a sea view and it was a lovely view out to sea and down to the Pyrenees.. Lots of lovely beaches in very close proximity and the sea different every day. It was a very nice stroll into the centre of Biarritz but there was also a free bus outside the Residence as well as 2 paying buses which were v cheap. You can get the 10 to E Leclerc for a big shop if like us you don't take the car abroad. There were also shops in easy walking distance. The pool was lovely and there were always enough sun beds. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer in the Residence (not the apartment itself). All the basics in the apartment and a lovely big balcony. You do need to pay for Wifi but worth it if travelling with teenagers. Staff were nice and helpful.

Private, close to beach, surf rentals, downtown.
Room was clean and spacious for two people. Came with plates, linen, towels and other kitchen gear. Quick walk to Marbella beach (less then five min) and to a great surf shop to rent gear or take surf lessons without going bankrupt. Downside: We had to buy toilet paper, dish soap and sponges. Wifi had to be purchased seperatly from room fee which comes with added credit card fees if you don't live in Europe.
Great shop 2 min walk up street from hotel. Best classes with Axel and rent gear on your own with Julien. Best prices in Biarritz!!

Self-Catering in Biarritz
Hotel Eugenie was not a hotel, it was self-catering apartments, which is what we wanted. The small kitchen was well enough stocked with a dish- washer, microwave and hob, but no oven. The rooms were spacious with lovely views from all windows and balcony. The location was good - not central but within easy reach of the town and facilities - bus stop outside hotel but would recommend a car if wishing to go farther afield. Excellent secure car park on site. Too cold in October for trying the outdoor pool as it is not heated, but this, the tennis court and crazy putting would be lovely in summer season. Overall a practical, no frills place. On a negative, very uncomfortable mattresses on beds and a very small, uncomfortable sofa in the main living area, thus difficult to relax after a busy day. Attention to detail was lacking - no kitchen cloths, bin liners, dishwasher tablets etc - and who wants to be bothered sorting that out on holiday. Only French channels on the TV. It did the job but I wouldn't go back due to lack of attention to detail and general comfort.

Nice appartment at top of a steep hill. the height gives great views across the bay although it's location right below the approach path for the airport made it noisy. A few shops and a bank were within a few minutes walk as were several beaches and surf schools. Staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The appartment had everything you needed but no luxuries

Great location. Close to beaches and surfing and everything else to do there. Parking was a bit far from room with the kids. No dish soap or dishwasher detergent so make sure u bring some if u want to cook. Kids loved the bunk beds and it kept them in their own room so we could stay up later.

4 star rating very misleading, bring extra cash
I stayed in a studio which I found to be quite basic. The hotel charged me extra for everything! The main phone in the reception wasn't working so i had to have the phone in my room activated which cost me 5 euros for the pleasure. Activating WiFi cost an additional 15 euros for my stay, and they even charged 7 euros for a cleaning kit, which included basics like washing up liquid. There were no features in my room to indicate that this was a 4 star hotel. Bathroom had no toiletries or sanitary products just 3 towels. Staff in reception went home after 5pm, so in the evening there was nobody to notify if you were experiencing a problem. As staff closed the doors to the hotel after leaving, I had to climb through the back of the Hotel on several occasions after forgetting the code for the front door. None of the staff spoke english which was quite surprising, I am bilingual so I could manage but my friends found it incredible difficult. I think the hotel is geared towards french visitors, than foreigners. As the Hotel was in an isolated part of Biarritz, I had to walk 25 mins to town every day for lunch or dinner as there were no restaurants around the hotel. On departure I was asked to clean my room, empty out bins and take out the bed linen, or be charged up to 40 euros. After all the additional charges, constant walks for basics and lack of service, i would have been better off joining my friends in the 2 star hotel in town, which had soap and daily cleaners.

Bad night's sleep but great location
Quality & finish of appartment not that expected of 4 star accommodation. Floor surfaces badly worn. 4 person appartment booked for 2. Kitchen arrangement meant only one able to use it at a time. Whole flat was cramped and badly organised, inappropriate for anyone with any level of disability particularly if not agile, or two couples sharing, or parents with young children: as bathroom and separate toilet are at entry level, stairs climb to kitchen/living room with sofa bed, further mezanine 'bedroom' for 2 in single beds up second set of narrow steep stairs. No privacy between each sleeping space, nor between our balcony and those of the block opposite so close it felt claustophobic. We regretted not booking one of appartments in the southern block that look down to the car park and across to Spain. Awkward cramped kitchen arrangement and the most uncomfortable ill fitting mattress we encountered in 6 weeks touring. Its also a long haul uphill from car park at bottom of grounds to hotel building at top even without luggage so we collected what we needed each day from the car the night before. There appeared to be only three parking places for disabled clients at the building itself. Beautiful looking building externally, within easy walk Biarritz centre, Carrefour Market and other shops. Saving grace : the views across the bay to the Pyranees when swimming in the pool.

Misadvertised.
The town was nice but the hotel was badly advertised as a hotel and seems to be more like a extended stay hotel with no minibar or hotel service. We were required to make a count of the utensils dishes pots and towels of which there were only 2 provided for 3 of us staying there. We were also required to clean the room and put out any garbage and use the vaccum available at the reception. Also there was noone there to greet our arrival as they close reception between noon and 3pm. For us that was a 2 hoir wait. Not impressed. The view of the ocean was nice tho.

Picturesque location but expensive for what it was
Beautiful clifftop location and lovely pool on the cliffside with sun loungers provided. also convenient for shops and beaches. Strange apartment setup though - we were expected to strip beds and clean up etc before leaving , otherwise pay a fine, but no detergent provided or tea towel! we were only given 2 large towels and 2 small towels for 2 adults and 2 children and told that extra towels would be 8 euros each! Good space but strangely enormous bathroom and tiny sleeping space in bunks for the children in one corner. Comfortable and clean but you pay more for the view I think. I wouldn't not go back but might look for better value for money, but maybe it's the same everywhere in that area.

Old and not a hotel
Residence and hotel Eugenie is not a hotel but a residence. There is no amenities in the room. Only a few small towels. Only one trash bag and no cleaning service that I was aware of. The place is old and since the weather was cold in July it felt damp. In addition even though hotels.com says paid in full when you are checking they charge you for city taxes which is in the fine print

We were very pleased with the hotel. The reception staff were very helpful.On arrival I discovered I had mislaid my necklace and the receptionists made several phone calls for me to locate its whereabouts. They were as pleased as I was when they discovered where it was!

Could not be happier with the service.
We checked in quite late and pretty much crashed straight away, woke up in the morning to a funny smell. Biarritz had had a lot of rain and there was a distinct smell of mold. The hotel manager was AWESOME about it, very apologetic and totally sorted us out with a great room above the grade we paid for because of the inconvenience. The staff have been so good we decided to stay another week. Big thanks to everyone at Maeva Eugenie you made our stay fantastic! P.S. if your coming for the surf this hotel is a great location!

Great place to rest after a long flight
We had flown from Australia via Paris and arrived after dark to find a lovely comfortable room, warm despite the snow, clean and with excellent facilities. The fold-out bed was a bit hard but the kitchen (we like to cook for ourselves) was excellent. We even booked another night to really rest before starting our walk on the Camino.

Hotel is OK. Rooms are pretty small, our bedroom had no space for nightstands, and only very tiny windows. The kitchenette is good, but would be nice if they left cleaning cloths and washing up liquid. Pool area is nice, lovely view. Could use more sun loungers. No direct route to beach, which isn't obvious from the hotel site, you have to walk a bit. The part about all rooms having sea or pool view isn't accurate either. We had view from our patio (at an angle) but no view from inside the room. Being a French hotel you also don't get any cleaning during your stay - we stayed almost 2 weeks and only got 1 change of towels/sheets (which you change yourself).

nice hotel, well equipped room and kitchenette, clean, great view, nice swimming pool, very close to beach, the staff at check in were very friendly and helpful with good english, the staff at check out weren't as friendly, good value for money overall, i would recommend this hotel but advise to make sure that you carry out the inventory at check in carefully incase there is something missing at checkout which was not in the room at check in as you will get charged for this but it is important to note that the fees for such items are very reasonable and itemised in a handy booklet about the hotel and facilities that is supplied at check in.

Problème au niveau de la porte d'entrée de l'appartement qui nous avait été attribué mais la personne de l'accueil nous a relogé sans problème et nous avons passé un excellent séjour. A signaler tout de même : Etat moyen de certaines huisseries mais rien de grave.

Juste bien, je connais dans le même groupe des résidences plus agréables où lorsque l'on réserve un studio 1 chambre on ne se retrouve pas avec 2 lits cabines et 1 canapé lit seulement mais 1 vrai lit 2 personnes ! Que dire du confort de la literie du canapé.... Horrible et grinçant, le frigo gémissant la nuit à côté de vous. Pas le luminaires allumés dans le parc alors que la nuit tombe à 17h30 et que les allées mènent aux appartements, obligé d'utiliser la lampe du téléphone ??? Le personnel qui ne s'étonne pas du disfonctionnement du micro-ondes (on ne sait pas le faire fonctionner..lol) et le fait de trouver un bol non lavé rangé du locataire précédent à l'arrivée, bof...bref nous avons écourté de 3 nuits tellement le studio 4 personnes etait glauque sans vue sauf sur les voisins d'en face! Bref je préfère Anglet ou Socoa.
