“Location, location, location”
The Abbey Hotel is ideally located just a few steps away from the Abbey and the Roman Baths. Our room, facing the courtyard, was very comfortable and quiet and the staff very obliging. Our son-in-law and granddaughter stayed there the week before us and our daughter, a few days later; and all were pleased. It can be noisy when the pubs close of an evening, I'm told, but that's just part of all the activity going on in the nearby plazas. Bath is sheer joy..
“Impressed and would return”
You can only trust the reviews so much about any destination. But I did choose the Great Western Abbey in Bath, UK after regarding it's overall rating. I was NOT disappointed. The hotel is in the center of Bath. Minutes from the major attractions and meeting points for the tours. That said, I didn't feel crowded nor disturbed by these same points. The hotel was clean, offering warm drinks late into the night, service was polite and quick, our room was comfy; we couldn't have asked for more and with a great price too!
“The location is great”
It wasn't a bad hotel. Free wireless was out for the three days we were there. You could overhear guests complaining at breakfast. The rooms were pretty small, but that's what I expected being so close to everything. Aside from the person who checked us in, everyone was very pleasant.
“Great hotel with an unbeatable location”
I stayed here with my fiance for 2 nights in June. This hotel is conveniently located to the center of Bath. There are plenty of eateries and Pubs within walking distance. It is also close t othe train station, maybe 5 minutes walk. The staff were also helpul and nice.
“Great place to stay”
The location of the hotel is excellent, near the Abbey, town and the train station. The room was very spacious and comfortable.
“dissatisfied”
The hotel staff was less than helpful. The internet never worked, I heard other guests complain, but when we notified the staff they didn't even try to figure out the problem. We asked for help booking a spa appointment, they told us to walk to the spa. the spa told us we had to call. With the biggest attraction being the spa the front desk really should have some idea of how it worked. When we came back from the spa, we asked the desk to help us again and they told us to call-very inconvenient when we have to pay international rates and they could have just picked up the phone. The location was great. best part of the hotel, but the hotel itself, at it's price could have provided more comforts. rough sheets and a cleaning lady who simply rinsed the tea cups, and our whole wing smelled like wet paint the whole weekend. Worst part was on our last night of the relaxing spa vacation there were chinese tourists who screamed and partied in the room right next to ours ALL night. REALLY dissatisfied.
“Great Location, but...”
Arrive during daylight hours, otherwise you will have difficulty in finding the hotel. The exterior lighting is very poor and the exterior sign is almost not visible. Parking is 2 blocks away in a pay parking lot. There is no AC, and even by European standards, the room I had was tiny. If you open the windows for fresh air, the street noise, at night, is significant with raucous young tourists loudly laughing, cussing, and shouting to each other. The TV is as big as an old computer moniter screen. The staff is polite, and the continental breakfast is adequate. The location is convenient, but good luck in finding the hotel.
“In the heart of Bath”
I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western Abbey Hotel. It is very conveniently located for sightseeing. The rooms were comfortable and very satisfactory. I would definitely go back if I am lucky enough to visit Bath again!
“Dated hotel”
Old and dated. Worst beds in England (well cheapest mattresses anyhow) and worlds smallest TV's in the room.(think 1975 portable colour TV) No parking available except in municpal parking lot which is expensive per day
“Small Noisy Rooms Bad Service Gross Breakfast”
We stayed at the Best Western Abbey while visiting Bath for 2 nights. Having been to Bath before we loved the idea of staying in the city center. While the hotel has a great location, the rooms were expensive and small. We were in room 105 which overlooks the huntsman pub and even though bars close by midnight the street and people noise was horrible. Because there is no air conditioning we HAD to leave the windows open. We were promised free internet service, but the internet was down for the bulk of our trip with noone at the front desk caring. Breakfast is horrible. No one was available to help with my bags and I had to go up stairs to get to my room. The bar area is nice if you like paying $16 for 2 glasses of gross wine. I would not stay here again, there are many other nicer places to stay nearby
