An oasis of calmPosted Jul 11, 2013
Cons: Road noise and bed
Location: Beautiful gardens
The hotel is in a beautiful spot in fabulous grounds. The spa area and pool outdoors on a warm sunny morning was a real treat. All amenities clean, calm and relaxing. The staff were great. All, without exception helpful and respectful. The only slight downside was the bed which was very soft and I personally found I woke up with quite a bad back ache but that is a personal thing. And also we were in a room very close to main road. Dinner in restaurant and next day breakfast lovely especially the haddock with poached eggs. Would definitely come again and make more use of the spa

Trying but not quite up to musterPosted Jul 10, 2013
Disappointed that we were unable to use any spa treatments over the three days as all booked up. There is little point staying in a spa hotel if at no point you can use the facilities. Disappointed with the room as up in the eves and kept having to duck all the time and the wardrobe was under the eves making it difficult to get to and consequently having to bend down. They did not appear to have a very extensive range of wines in stock. They only get 6 bottles of LPR a week and when it has gone it has gone, wouldnt you think that a hotel of this rating would ensure they have ample stock and should they have a run on any well used item that they would even go to Sainsburys and buy a few bottles when they have run out they would still make a couple of hundred pounds on each bottle. I have stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and thought the food/decor and service a lot better when no spa facility was provided. Disappointed this time and would not go back

Nice but expensivePosted Jul 6, 2013
Pros: The spa was great.
Cons: Soft beds !
Location: Nice country gardens.
Lovely hotel and friendly staff, but very soft bed led to a sore back in the morning ! Also they automatically add gratuity to all bar and restaurant bills without mentioning until you check out.

Great for a night or twoPosted Jun 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
Unintrusive service provided at a hotel which feels more like a home than a hotel. Thought the breakfast spread could be more varied however. Would certainly recommend though. Set in a lovely location with lots of surrounding greenery.

DisappointingPosted Apr 22, 2013
Pros: The beautiful house
Cons: No air conditioning in bedrooms (far too warm), poor shower, not a great breakfast.
Location: 5 miles from the centre of Bath.
The bedroom was very warm and there was no way of reducing the temperature or switching off the heating. Me and my husband had complaint at the reception but nothing changed which leaded us to an terrible night sleep. The shower in the morning had very low pressure and we absolutely needed and good shower after the difficult night sleep. We were expecting then to have an amazing breakfast, but the buffet only had 1 table with milk, a dozen of fruits on a small basket, cereals, a bit of yogurt and juices. The staff brought us toasts, butter and ham and the menu from which we ordered fully English breakfast (the option for a smoked salmon breakfast had an extra charge) but it was a tiny portion with no good quality of bacon or sausage. No chance to visit the spa for us, probably was the best part of the hotel. Definitely not going back.
