Nice hotel but lost some of its period charmPosted May 21, 2014
Friendly staff, clumsy waiters speaking funny french english, limied menu in restaurant, sliightly overpriced vine list, no separate showers even in deluxe suite.

Tranquil oasis in iconic settingPosted May 18, 2014
Just superb. Very comfortable. Relaxing ambience. Great facilities and staff. A hidden gem in one of the country's most iconic settings. Cannot fault any aspect of our stay.

Beautiful Hotel in the royal Crescent.Posted Apr 18, 2014
The hotel was absolutely beautiful with helpful friendly staff. The garden was particularly lovely as all the spring flowers were out and it was great to be able to sit out for a peaceful drink after a day exploring bath.

Great LocationPosted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: Staff were all very helpful.
Cons: Tea / coffee in the room would be better than having to call down for it.
Location: A very classy location, I think the garden would be lovely in the summer.
Well appointed hotel - they were refurbishing the main reception area, but elsewhere everything looked and felt 5*. We stayed for a couple of nights to celebrate retiring and it did feel special.

A touch of gentle luxuryPosted Apr 5, 2014
Cons: Not applicable. I shall be returning.
Location: Ten minutes walk from the centre of Bath, and its downhill all the way there. Shops, cathedral, Pump room, Roman Bath etc. Get a taxi up the hill back
From the moment you arrive at this hotel you are greeted with friendly faces and staff who seem to have a genuine interest in anticipating and meeting your every need. The hotel is spotless and the service is excellent. The food is well presented, tasty and - although perhaps a tiny bit pricey - actually well worth the extravagence! The spa has to be experienced to fully appreciate it - its not just the tasteful design but the whole ambience of wood smells and candle light make it a truly relaxing experience. And the swimming pool is always warm.... When I went they were finishing some refurbishment - but it was not a problem... and it will look wonderful when the hallway and library areas are finished.

Great expectationsPosted Apr 1, 2014
Pros: see above
Cons: Bartenders pour small measures, apparently as regulated by law. But can't they cheat in customers favor even occasionally?
Location: Roman baths, Jane Austen's house, shopping
This is a seriously great place to stay. Historic architecture, excellent service, wonderful ambience.

Building works affected stayPosted Jan 17, 2014
Pros: Location is great
The hotel is currently undergoing building works and I believe this had an impact on our stay. Clearly the cost of this hotel is due to the location and maybe the history. The Spa is excellent and I would highly recommend this, but the hotel is not value for money. We thought the room was small and the decor oppressive. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast good. We did not eat in the hotel as the menu is not to our taste and with so many restaurants in Bath there is lots to choose from.

Perfect hotel in every way.Posted Jan 13, 2014
We had the most amazing time at this hotel. It is located very close to Bath centre. Staff are very helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble. All the facilities were perfect. The spa was stunning and we were very relaxed after massages. We just wished that we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful hotel, kind and professional staff!Posted Jan 8, 2014
Pros: Atmosphere of and around the hotel. Accommodation and furniture in the hotel.
Location: Few famous sightseeing spots just nearby. It seems just to take a taxi when coming to this hotel from Bath Spa station or the town central.
I stayed just one night but had a confortable, wonderful time. However, there are few restaurants or cafes outside the hotel just nearby.
