“Not Impressed”

We recently stayed at the Governor Macquarie , and it was not a pleasant experience. We arrived around 5p.m.but our room key was not available, it was being used by a guy who was working in the room, this was the first hint (along with the skip taking up quite a few of the needed carparks) that the motel was being renovated. No mention was made on check-in. The room itself was typical of motel rooms everywhere, very clean which was nice. The large holes in the wall where apparently a heater had been removed were not so pictuesque, nor was the very old television set, minus buttons and with a remote that took some working out, on/off didn't work but just hitting random buttons did... the promised Flat Screens in every room advertised it certainly was not. Then the hot water jug didn't work but that was only found after the office had closed. The restaurant was supposed to be open for breakfast at 7a.m. which would have been great as we were in Bathurst for the B2B Bike ride, but as it wasn't Macdonalds around the corner was. The worst thing about this place was the immediate nastiness from the receptionist when told that I wasn't happy with the accommodation. We had booked a room for friends as well and theirs was renovated although both were the same price. If you plan to stay at the Govenor Macquarie make sure you request a renovated room, and if none available for a price reduction. I told the staff that I was going to write a review and was told they would "sue me"...

Good service but doesn't look like it's been touched since the 80's
