Disappointing Experience

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: The staff was very helpful and nice.
Cons: Food. New beds. Logistics when renting space to groups.
Location: Did not go to nearby places because I was there for a conference.
Paid extra for handicapped room. Room had lower rod for clothes and lower peep hole, and chair for tub. ROOM HAD TUB not a walk in shower which we needed. The matress on the bed had to be worst I have ever tried to sleep on. Kept waking up all night. Was there for a conference. Hotel rented the area adjacent to our conference room Sat. night to a dance party with very loud music that distracted from our meeting. Food that we were served was disappointing. Hope that our club does not book this hotel again. Also, the pool was only open to people 18 years or older.

Stay at The Belle

The room was filthy, the bedside table had ink on it and also the carpet. You could smell the dust from off the carpet. The bed head was very dusty.

NO KIDS IN THE POOL

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: It was clean. It has a shuttle bus. The free continental breakfast.
Cons: GET A LIFEGUARD AND ALLOW KIDS IN THE POOL!!!!!!!!!
Location: USS KIDD, River Center and Museum within walking distance.
We booked this room while traveling at night. Yes, we were in a hurry. They allow you to include children in the reservation but they do not allow kids in the pool. We stayed here to be close to LSU for our older son's orientation and to let our younger son play in the pool while we waited for the older one. NOT a person was in the pool for 2 days, but they wouldn't let us in. Rather than pay for a life guard, they pay someone to sit outside the pool door to turn guests with kids away. For this reason I cannot recommend the hotel. On a positive note, the continental breakfast was good and free with room, even for kids. And the shuttle driver was very friendly and took us to the zoo since we couldn't go in the pool.

Okay for the price

Pros: Has nice views of the Mississippi River if you go outside. No view from hotel.
Cons: The beds
Location: Did not get a chance to do sightseeing as this was a business trip.
Only stayed one night, but that was enough. The casino was very small and limited slots and tables. Had an atmosphere of maybe a neighborhood casino. My dinner at Shucks was pleasant. Ordered the catfish plate and received 5 large fillets with a generous portion of fries and coleslaw. The server was attentive and nice. The hotel room was clean but very damp feeling and the bed was HARD. The bathroom is so small you can barely close the door for the toilet. Overall it was nice but just not my style.

Back up to a nicer hotel.

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Bell man and valet guys were great. The hotel was very outdated. Carpets needed cleaning, decor needed updating, had a moldy smell throughout the hotel and casino. Bathrooms were small, had to step into the room in order to shut the door. Cleaning staff was loud in the morning. Over priced for the quality of the place. Buffet, although limited was palitaleable. Not what you would expect from a hotel that lists itself as a three star establishment. First time here and most likely the last. If you are in a pinch and don't mind lowering your standards for accommodations then this is the place. But if you want something nicer drive the extra miles up the road and stay at the L'Auberge. I did the next day when a room was available. The Garden Atrium was large enough to support other venues but was waisted on older decor and poor seating. Very surprised this hotel is still around.

It Was Average

Pros: Quick and easy walk to XO Iron-replacing Skill Level: Ninja
Cons: Hire humans to do valet parking
Location: XO is a quick walk away There's a terrible casino connected to the hotel
The only reason I chose this hotel was for it's easy access to the club XO. It's a simple walk through the hotel corridor, a quick left, and then you're at the entrance for XO. As far as the hotel itself, it's was simply okay. The room was simple and comfortable. The worst part was the valet parking. It was by far the worst valet experience I've ever had. They simply have no idea how automobiles work. They're people skills are comparable to that of a fish. I swear, they gave me the same look as my fish gives me. It's an empty, emotionless stare trying to figure out what I mean when I ask for them to park my vehicle. All of the other staff members were great, though. Our iron worked for about 2 minutes, but they were quick to replace it.

Clean but

Posted Aug 4, 2014
First let me say the staff was so friendly and helpful. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. However half the channels didn't work. The description said there was a video game console in the room, there was not and this was the only reason I chose this hotel. My room was on the 8th floor near the elevator. It was horrible! I could hear every person coming off the elevator which might not have been so bad except it went on all hours of the night due to it being part of a casino. I could also hear every person on the street! Every time I fell asleep I'd be woken up by drunk people walking down the hallway! I had to be on the road early so I was angry about the lack of sleep and no coffee in the room that I didn't partake in the complimentary breakfast.

Pros: Near by River Center
This this my third time visiting that hotel, each summer I go there to take an exam at River Center just across the hotel, since I came the first time the hotel has cancelled the buffet, and the bar during the weekdays ,which affect the patrons because not to many option for getting food, only one restaurants with an poor menu.

Nice but could have been better

Posted Jul 30, 2014
Pros: The staff was very friendly, the room was comfortable and clean. Because my mother who stayed with us is a diabetic, they did bring a fridge.
Cons: Fridges, microwaves, and coffee pots in each room.
Location: Hotel is located downtown and has a casino attached to it. It is near the U.S.S. KIDD, the old state capital, the River Center, and new state capital.
No fridge, microwave, or coffee maker in the room? Haven't seen that at a hotel or motel in decades! The first room we stayed in the knob to turn the shower on was broken so we had to switch rooms. The moved us from the seventh floor to the eighth floor. The first room had an awesome view of the river, old, and new state capital. The second room had a view of the parking lot, the new bridge, and a power station. The thermostat wasn't responding in that room though so they moved us to another room across the hall and it was perfect. The manager was very apologetic and gave us $10 coupons to Shucks (which was delicious and had the best service ever!), and $5 off at the gift store where breakfast happens to be served and the big breakfast which has grits, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, and a biscuit and the coupon took care of that! Coffee is free and available until 2 PM and was excellent. I didn't get to enjoy the pool because there are no one allowed under 18 even with an adult so my 14 year old daughter couldn't go swimming with me. The beds were very comfortable, the TV worked and we had most channels we wanted to watch. The view from that side of the hall was beautiful but if you stay there make sure you get an odd numbered room as the odd numbers are the side with the view as the even numbered rooms, you're going to see the parking lot, power grid, and the new bridge which has stop and go traffic much of the time. Overall our stay was great.
