Would go back again and again!!

Pros: The staff was really good, positive and worked hard. I liked that they didn't scrimp on things. It was all inclusive and they were generous.
Cons: My butler could have been more attentive. Also, repairs need to be made on the pool/hottub... tiles were popping off.
As soon as we pulled up in the car, we could tell this was a special place. It's gorgeous. The bell boys greet you with a "welcome home" and a cool, scented towel on a silver tray. The check in was pretty easy, and as we waited- a woman came by with champagne and pina colodas. Our room wasn't quite ready, so they invited us to walk around and grab some lunch. After lunch we were taken to our room. We had a swim out suite. We didn't really use it much, but the room was nice. No view however. I had to ask about our "butler" twice before he ever contacted us. He was kind but didn't do anything for us the whole time. I was disappointed. I don't want to say his name because I don't want him to get in trouble. I had attempted to email the resort beforehand about reservations including days/times etc... they claimed they never received it. THey then acted like it was a HUGE deal trying to get us into any of the restaurants. (Even though they were 60-75% empty) . They managed a few restaurant slots. The Japanese was good, like hibachi at restaurants at home. We also ate at the Mediterranean restaurant and thought that was very good. The Surf and Turf was okay as well. LOVED just hanging out by the pool everyday. WARNING: people get up freakishly early to get their spot by the pool. I'm talking 4-5 am. I know because I would go out at 5:15 am and 25% of the good spots were already taken.

This is a top notch facility

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this truly magnificent facility. The rooms were beautiful and well equipped. The staff tried to please, especially the butlers, other staff members had some language difficulty but always friendly and pleasant. The pools and beach were wonderful. The food in all the restaurants were top notch and the drinks were premium. I certainly had one of the most relaxing and excellent vacations ever

Beware of American sharks at the gate

This resort has great staff , plenty to do& exquisite food. Close proximity to beach & pools. Myself & two friends were invited to participate in a 90 minute sales presentation were we would be offered 100 credit at gift shop. We thought the presentation was at our hotel. They took us to the golf center of the resort which was 5 minutes away. We were greeted by 3 other sales reps that welcomed us but didn't say much. We were then introduced to an employee only 2 weeks with the company. She took us back to our hotel for lunch. We just wanted to hear the presentation. She was not equipped to answer are questions. She then told us that we had to go back to the golf center with her. Mandatory. Other two friends did not go. I felt bad & went back with her. Upon arriving to golf center one of the managers was annoyed that only 1 person returned out of three. He told me I was wasting their time & I could go back to my hotel. Then the sales manager shows up & insists he give me the pitch. It is a no brainer. He finally tells me the details after two & a half hours It was an exorbitant amount of money & I said I would think about it. They said I had to be ready to make s decision on the spot. I decided it was not for me. They wanted me to fill out a statement & sign. I refused. I love this resort but this experience made it very negative. I stayed at the five star resort top notch & had to be subject to these sales tactics. This presentation could have been 15min

Cons: Food
We had a great time at Iberostar Grand Bavaro. Weather was perfect with blue sky and temps was around 80-85 degrees. Room was clean and bed was made every day although we spent most of the time lying on the cabanas anyway.

Of the many all inclusive resorts I have visited in the Dominican and Mayan Riviera this one is by far the best.

Go there.

Posted Mar 21, 2015
Pros: Everything.
Cons: not much room for improvement.
Location: As above. We didn't go anywhere else.
The place is physically beautiful, well designed, well maintained. The staff is warm and helpful. It doesn't get any better than this.
