Nice Hotel on the Beach with very wide sea front.

Pros: Wide facing lawns into the sea ..... courteous staff.
We drove to the hotel from Auckland and were received by the very helpful & happy Reception Desk. There was a very wide spread at Breakfast. The staff were very courteous & ready to cater for our vegetarian needs. Unfortunately the weather was very wet & windy and thus could NOT move out, but we enjoyed the scene of the sea & trees from the Bay Windowed veranda attached to our Room !!

Disappointed with customer service

Pros: Location, scenery, facilities and the breakfast was delicious.
Cons: Customer service at reception - a bit more hospitality upskilling, conflicting information given causing confusion and a little frustration.
Location: Beach, kayaking, Waitangi walk, Busby homestead. Ferry to Russel from Opua a good days outing.
First impressions - WOW! Disappointed at reception on check-in and checking-out! However some of the reception staff in between our stay were very helpful and informative. All other staff were professional, polite, friendly and made us feel special, but most of all welcoming with a smile, right down to the guy on the lawn mower, the pool maintenance guy, all the staff from the dining room and the cleaning staff. You can have the flashiest facilities but they don't mean a thing if your customer service is not up to par.

You can always count on the Copthorne. The room I had (cheapest available) was kinda small and noisy but it was still good.

Hotel was ok. I xpected more from a resort but. It wasn't too bad. Staff were very friendly and breakfast buffet were awesome. Rooms are abit dated but not too bad.

Pros: Great position
Location: Boat trips! drives to excellent scenery
Staff were very helpful and friendly, position was great, we enjoyed our sty in Bay of Islands

Relaxing retreat in beautiful surroundings

Wonderful relaxed resort just a short (and pleasant) walk to the town. The surrounding gardens and pool make this resort and being just outside means that you are not disturbed by the traffic that runs through the town that affects many of the other hotels here on the waterfront. The decor and furniture is a little old but in good condition, comfy and clean. That is easily forgotten by the fantastic view of sunrise you get in the morning looking in to the bay and in the evening as the sun sets behind the hotel over the estuary. One criticism we have is that on the Sunday when we stayed a large number of cars parked outside the rooms on the estuary side as parents took their kids to the sailing club which is next door to the hotel. There is plenty of parking just 50 m away around the corner and I think the hotel should try to prevent people disrupting their guests by restricting access to the lane that runs down past the rooms on the estuary side and encourage them to use the carpark.

Highly recommend it! My friend and I had a great time staying in this hotel. It was very comfortable and clean. The room layout was spacious, and so pleasant. The front officer manager was very friendly and helpful. I left my earrings in the hotel after checking out, and she gave me a keycard to retrieve it. I left a guest card comment, and surprisingly, I received a letter from the General Manager to thank me for giving the feedback. This is good customer service, and expected of a hotel of this calibre.

this wasn`t the luxury spa resort I`d expected

Pros: The setting is superb and the food was delicious
Cons: The rooms need a complete makeover - upgrading to reflect todays expectations of 4/5 star luxury
Location: location superb and the nearby town of Pahia lovely
The setting of this hotel is superb but the accommodation is more 2 star motel than four/five star luxury hotel and when we pulled up we thought we`d arrived at Butlins. The accommodation is arranged in rows of "tin" huts and is very dated and without the amenities you`d expect. In particular our room was very noisy making sleep virtually impossible. The staff were very helpful the next morning and moved us to a better room but again it was very old-fashioned.
