“The best place to stay in the Bay of Islands”

We were visiting friends in the Northland, and thought it would be nice to stay for a couple of days in the Bay of Islands area. It was late December, (completely high season), almost everything I checked out was fully booked and very expensive if available. I had pretty much given up on the idea, when my wife said, "Did you check Expedia?" The Waterfront Suites came up on Expedia, and my first thought was "what in the world is wrong with this place, as it looks brand new, the price seemed very reasonable, and the location was perfect?!?!" As it turned out, the place WAS perfect, and we just got lucky! It is modern, clean, convenient, and I would recommend that anyone wanting to stay in Paihia or Russell check this place out. We took the passenger ferry over to Russell for dinner, and the Tuk Tuk to Opua for the walk along the waterfront back to Paihia--good times!

Modern, comfortable, well fitted serviced apartments with basement car park separated from waterfront only by road. The location was very convenient to all of Paihia's attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend The Waterfront Suites to anyone visiting Paihia. The accomodation was better than that in which we stayed in Auckland. Being very picky, the only possible area for improvement was the quality of the daily room servicing, which was only fair.

The hotel is beautiful and good value for money. The rooms are spacious and well equiped. It is right in the main street and close to everything! I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for those who like to be 'self sufficient'. You are able to cook for yourself and the laundry facilities in the room are excellent. We had an issue with the fridge (and exploded bottle of coke) when we arrived and housekeeping attended to it promply.

“Best Hotel in Bay of Islands”

This hotel was a fabulous treat during our vist to Bay of Islands during the off-season. For a minimal amount per night we upgraded to a luxurious 2-bedroom suite that we loved. We did not have a car, so the wonderful location of this hotel was perfect for us. Highly recommended!

Excellent location, excellent service. The only difficulty was finding the reception when in the underground carpark, although afterwards I did see the sign.

Modern, trendy and so comfortable. Had every facility that you could want. The only thing missing was a in room safe.

Great place, so close to central paihia. Great size rooms with modern facitities. Just wish they would het the pool!

Our room on the 1st floor (swimming pool level) was excellent but I felt sorry for those in our group that were on the 3rd floor. The lift only goes to the 1st floor unless you are lucky to have one of the two units with their own 3rd floor lift. Otherwise you catch the lift from the carpark with your luggage to the 1st level then carry your luggage up 2 steep flights of stairs. Be sure if you are on the 2nd and 3rd floor that you get directions as to what side of the lifts your unit is located. The room numbering system is strange. The Waterfront Suites are a great location in Paihia across the road from the water, with the jetty for all the ferries about a 5 min walk away and plenty of nice restaurants just in the same street. If you are a golfer try a game at Kauri Cliffs a little over 1 hours drive from Paihia. It's expensive for International visitors but worth it for that once in a life time experience.

Great location right on the waterfront. I stayed in the one bedroom apartment and it had everything you could possibly need including washing machine and dryer. It was extremely clean and comfortable. It is close to the local shops and restaurants and the free sky movie channel was a bonus. I would definately be happy to stay there again.
