Great location

Right off the beach and a block from the 3rd Street Promenade. Easy to get around. Staff is remarkably helpful and pleasant. Had a fantastic meal at the main restaurant. But, be prepared to pay for the quality experience. worth it, though

Needs an update

Good location across from the beach, but it is dated. Good service as you would expect from Fairmont, but it seems to be waiting for a make-over. Probably why it has 'deals.'

Not Worth the Expense

Pros: The location is excellent, and the décor is very pleasing. The bar out by the pool offered very good service and a lovely setting.
Cons: The acoustics of Fig need complete revamping.
Location: Third Street Promenade for shopping; Michael's for dining.
There were issues with my room and the room of my colleague as soon as we arrived (e.g., shower; room telephone, etc.). My room was not available when I arrived because the newly shampooed carpet had not yet dried. I had to wait, as they did not propose another room for me. Both rooms lacked sufficient lighting for reading at night. Every night there was a lot of noise from the bar/ballroom that went on past 1:00 a.m. It was impossible to sleep without closing up the sliding doors and relying on the air conditioning for ventilation. The restaurant, Fig, where we ate dinner our last night, was so noisy that we almost left. The server apologized for the bad acoustics, but, really, they should have designed the acoustics a long time ago. It was a very unpleasant experience, and I would never go back.

Easy walk to shops, beach and restaurants

We find it a great place to stay when we arrive in LA before we start our travelling holiday and also a couple of days before we fly home. It is close to the 3rd Street Promenade which has shops, restaurants and bars. The taxi to the airport is fixed price as well.

I really liked this place when I was younger, and it remains a very comfortable place to stay in a top-notch location. That said, I found it sort of annoying on this trip. The rooms have too much useless stuff (decorative furniture) and not enough modern touches (free wifi). I feel like this place is resting on its laurels and isn't concerned with improving itself, a mindset this hotel is a bit too young for.

Great place to feel special for a few days.

Every thing about the stay was perfect. The room was what they promised and the staff could not have been kinder. We love the hot tub and the pool. They offer complementary transportation to anywhere within 3 miles so we never got our car out of valet parking. It is a very dog friendly hotel and all of the dogs were very friendly.

Nice location close to everything

The hotel is located I the heart of Santa Monica, close to beach and shopping. The staff is exceptional always eager to help. My 4 star rating was a result of the current condition: there room we stayed is in the Ocean tower, very small room, appeared in need of repair.
