Lovely hotel

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Large comfortable bed. Fridge and walk in shower. Large fluffy towels and toiletries. Complimentary tea/coffee, water, soft drinks and kitKat
Cons: once the hotel is fully refurbished I don't think there will be anything to improve
Location: A short train journey into London
This hotel is under major refurbishment at present. Once this is complete it will be fabulous. The staff are all friendly and professional. The bedrooms have been refurbished to a high quality standard. The rooms are small but the space is utilised and it is decorated in warm colours. A very comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast was superb.

A bit disappointing

Posted Aug 31, 2013
Pros: Good buffet breakfast and rooms clean and comfortable
Reception staff a little slow. Building work taking place. Arrival and filling of a skip outside our window kept us awake from 7am. Agreed £20 off bill but only after speaking to manager. Reception staff not that apologetic. No air con and rooms very stuffy.

Copthorn style hotel on a budget

Posted Aug 13, 2013
Pros: Swimming pool
Cons: Lift
Even though is saw the picture of the hotel before I booked it I was pleasantly suprized with the look of the hotel. In the past I've paid 40% extra for the same standard of room. The breakfast is your typical fry up and continental pastries. For what I paid I was very impressed and would normally pay more for the same thing.

Excellent location. Tasty breakfast

Posted Mar 27, 2013
Pros: Pool and great breakfast
Cons: Some of the bedrooms are very shabby with hard beds
Location: Staffordshire
My husband and i have stayed at this hotel many times. the location is excellent. Whilst the public areas of the hotel are ok some of the bedrooms are in need of refurbishment and need their uncomfortable beds and bedding replaced. The breakfast is excellent and the Sunday lunch is worth booking. The staff are all helpful and friendly.

A great location

Posted Nov 5, 2012
Pros: The hotel provides a great varity at breakfast
Cons: Uncomfortable bed and pillows
Location: Good commuting hotel if visiting London
My husband and I stay at this hotel on a regular basis as it close to where our family live. The hotel is pleasant but in need of refurbishment in areas. The beds certainly need to be made more comfortable and the pillows need to be replaced to improve comfort and sleep quality. The staff are pleasant but as we are regular visitors to the hotel no one ever recognises or welcomes us.

Fantastic room and really helpful staff

Fantastic room and really helpful staff. The hotel is vast, a bit dated and some of the public areas need some updating, but the room was excellent - very clean and spacious.

OK but not outstanding

Posted Dec 28, 2011
Pros: Friendly staff, generous breakfast
Cons: Dated bathroom and overheated rooms
Location: Handy for the M40
We stayed on the first floor in one of the older rooms, with a view of the airconditioning units and garbage bins. The room was clean but had a bed far too big for the room that left no room to move around. It was incredibly hot in the room all the time. The bathroom was in need of updating, the bath enamel had rust spots and marks and the shower head was so clogged that it was not possible to have a decent shower. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room served it purposes in giving us a affordable place to stay. We would probably not choose to stay again but would if there was no other choice.

Not luxury but not bad

Posted Aug 6, 2007
I booked this hotel myself through Expedia but joined a large group all attending a celebration locally. It was a weekend and there was at least one large wedding party. The reception staff were very efficient both on check in and departure, however I met the same very capable person - there were others. The room was clean and comfortable with good facilities. The decor was dated but so am I! Breakfast was well presented and the staff worked hard to give immediate attention and replenish the buffet in good time. They managed it well with a large number of people including one party who had a champagne reception at the same time. The service was excellent. The person booking for the group I joined did not have the same experience with the staff behind the scenes. Get that area up to par with the front of house staff in the meantime book through Expedia and you don't need to deal with them.
