Pros: A lovely property, well appointed and comfortable, but there needs to be better disclosure of this unavoidable charge.
Cons: Expedia needs to give travellers a "heads-up" about any additional charges that the hotel may have for pets. $100 is excessive.
We booked this hotel as we had enjoyed our stay there very much last year. This year, as last year, we brought along our small dog. Last year, we left a day early, but had no trouble with the billing. However, this year, we paid through Expedia. The room was paid in advance for two nights. Upon our arrival, the very nice clerk welcomed us and we explained that we'd been there before. He asked us if we were aware of the Pet Policy. I imagined that it was a policy in that should our pet do any room damage, we'd be billed for the repair or clean up. Again, this year, we left a day early, too late to get a refund, but we were willing to take that loss. However, this morning, I found that the hotel billed me for $100. I had been very, very careful to leave the room clean and orderly with no damage, so I couldn't imagine what the charge was for. When I called, the same clerk explained to me that their Pet Policy was a $100 non-refundable charge for each stay. He said that the policy had been in effect for several years. When we arrived, it would have been too late to cancel our reservation, had we been smart enough to ask about the policy, but it never occurred to us to do so, since our stay last year had gone so well. At any rate, by the time we checked in, it was too late to cancel and we would have had to scramble to find other accommodations. We feel we were trapped into this Pet Policy. There is nothing on the reservation to indicate this Policy.

Pros: Nice looking pool and grounds
Check in was really slow- there wasn't a line- I was the only one and there was a new "sales manager" apparently in training- took forever for her to check me in. Couldn't see that I prepaid thru Expedia. After 20 minutes was able to issue me 2 keys. I walked out of the building, parked my car, went to the front of the other building- keys do not work. I had to go back and inquire to the gentleman at the desk "what is the price of a room was with keys that work"- he re-did the keys and was kind enough to walk me to my room to make sure the keys worked. The lady that attempted to check me in (new "sales mgr") ended up double billing my AMEX card for the stay, which was prepaid by Expedia. I called and spoke the outgoing Manager "Mrs. Harkrider"- she was extremely competent, professional and apologetic and immediately reversed the charges. My feeling is that she will be missed in a very big way- her replacement doesn't quite add up to her level.

Nice stay. We had the King Suite with a sitting area. The room was very nice a small stain on the couch. The A/C unit was a little loud when it came on. There isn't vending machines or ice machines so he had to use the refrigerator in the room but had to turn the ice maker on. They do have a snack area at the service desk and you can get chips, candy, drinks ect.... You can add it to your room charge. The Breakfast was awesome; real eggs, Biscuits n Gravy, potatoes, sausage links, waffles, pastries and all the trimmings. Great Coffee!! We will stay again!
