Hotel details included a resturant but they no longer do food in the evening. This was very disapointing and had to get a takeaway delived.Staff and owner freindly enough but this was a big let down. Hotel details need to be updated.

Friendly local hotel.Posted Oct 29, 2012
Pros: The staff - made us feel as though we were guests in their home.
Cons: Water pressure in the shower not great.
Location: 10 minute walk from Beccles, very convenient for visiting the Broads.
Fantastically friendly hotel - we arrived after 9pm on Friday night to find that the hotel no longer served food, but the landlord said that it wasn't a problem, we could choose from five different takeaway menus and he would have the food collected for us. We had a table set for us and enjoyed our takeaway. We were served with beer and wine as though we'd been in our own home, and the landlord & his wife were attentive and very friendly. Breakfasts were cooked to order, fresh and hot. There were no strict rules about checking out, and we were able to meet friends and return to check out after midday. The rooms were warm and clean, big towels and a hot shower (although the water pressure wasn't up to power shower standards). The Swan definitely isn't a luxury 5* hotel as defined by the big chains, but we would much rather stay somewhere like this - clean, warm, very friendly and relaxed.

breakfast service and accommodationPosted Sep 3, 2012 on Hotels.com
staff were very friendly and obliging and made sure they could match room numbers with a name. At breakfast they made sure we all received different combinations and well prepared. Being a group of 11 that took some doing. BUT there were basic things which could have been done to make life easier - pots of tea and coffee, milk jugs, sauce on the table rather than it being asked for each morning, a bigger range of cereals. The place needs updating or at least a good clean and a coat of emulsion.

Hotel/pub near Beccles.Posted Aug 28, 2012
The room was clean and tidy and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was rather small with only a shower cubicle and wash hand basin. The staff were good and they changed a heavy tog duvet on our bed to a lighter one with no problem whatsover. The breakfasts were well cooked and individualy served which we prefer. The bar itself was rather tired looking but overall we would return but only for a short stay.

A very nice place to stayPosted Aug 23, 2012 on Hotels.com
We chose this hotel as we were attending a music festival around 10 miles away, and all the nearest hotels and B&Bs were booked up, but we were glad that we did. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The 'motel style' accomodation was great, with a spacious room and a very comfortable bed. The whole place was clean and tidy, with a friendly feel. If we were in the area again, I would certainly choose to stay here again. Breakfast was very nice and filling, and just what needed after the night before!
Quaint place that encompasses country lifestyle.Posted Jun 3, 2012 on Hotels.com
Nothing fancy about this place but the quaint & friendly, helpful staff gives one a great experience & insight into the sole world of English country living.

the swan b&b in beccles lovely with a twist!Posted Oct 29, 2011 on Hotels.com
we booked into the swan as we were attending a wedding also in Beccles. it was a 10minute drive and perfectly located for our needs. We were a little unsure as we arrived at "the swann inn" (not hotel as advertised) and wary of the "old man pub" appearance however, we were pleasantly surprised when Russ the landlord took us around to show us our four poster room-a surprise upgrade! the bed was very comfy and the room warm, homely and pleasant. Although we drove there were local buses and a good taxi service too. We also ate dinner in the pub and were intrigued by the south African themed menu-what a change from the usual "pub grub". We had a lovely stay at the swan and would (and already have) highly recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay on Beccles.
