“Cheap and effective”
This hotel is very simple and cheap. Very close to the Winterplace and the people at front desk are very gentle.
“Good Place to Crash for the Night”
Stayed here as an overnight stopover during our trip from OH to NC...RIGHT off the freeway, and easy access to get back on. Hotel itself was nice, clean and comfortable. Driveway leading to the hotel is 1) confusing, entry was hard to find; and 2) ALOT of potholes--in fact we saw a car that had gone off the path & was stuck in a mudhole! 3) Shares driveway with ADULT BOOKSTORE which is in front of the hotel...SO-If you are just looking for a place to sleep for the night, it's ideal...But make sure you eat before you get there coz I didn't see ANY nearby restaurants. And the continental "breakfast" that was supposed to be out till 10 am was NON-EXISTENT. Unless you're down there before 6:30/7 am, there will be NO FOOD LEFT. Apparently there had been donuts but were gone when I went down @ 8:30. They did have coffee, tea, hot chocolate...Overall, not a bad experience, just don't be hungry & watch out for potholes and pervs!!! The staff was very friendly...
“Just what we needed”
Although some people may have found it offensive to stay in the same parking lot as an adult bookstore as long as you don't go in your fine. Yes the parking lot needs work. I found this hotel to be neat and clean and the people were very friendly and more than willing to please you and make you feel comfortable. I needed a clean place to stay, close to where I needed to be and affordable. This is exactly what I got. Thank you
“good enough”
My purpose was a cheap hotel to get a couple hours sleep so I could start skiing early the next morning. This hotel served exactlly what I needed. It is by no means a nice hotel, but it was clean enough. Bathroom was clean, plenty of hot water, I didn't get bed bugs, and there was no smell of smoke. There is a sex shop right in front of the hotel. Not that you can see inside, but I thought it was worth noting in case that kind of place bothers someone.
“Quite and peaceful”
I was not impressed by the 100 yards of potholes I had to dodge to get to this motel but was pleasently surprised after I was inside. My room was clean and comfortable. The bed was firm but not harsh. The 19-inch TV had more channels than I needed. The bathroom was spotless. The A/C was not excessively noisy and worked OK. The best part was the location, close to the I-77 expressway but far enough away so sleep is not disturbed by the traffic. There is a cute country dinner only yards away that served a very good cheeseburger with mashed potatoes (real, I think) and gravy.
“Going to Nascar Race”
From Ohio this stop is about 2 hours from the Bristol track. We have been stopping there every year for about 4 years. Staff remembers my family & is very friendly. Hotel is quite & comfortable. They do need to fix the lane & parking lot it has a lot of pot holes. It does have an adult book store right next to it but we are normally so tired after the race we don't care & you better eat at another exit unless you want Subway or you can order pizza. We have never had a bad exprience with the hotel. We plan to continue stopping here every time we go to Bristol!
“A good roadside stop”
The Knight's Inn at Ghent is easily accessible from Interstate 77 yet we heard no traffic noise. The rooms are very basic but large and clean. We had a very comfortable king-size bed. The price is reasonable for the type of hotel. There is a simple country restaurant with surprisingly good food 2 minutes drive away. Contrary to what some have suggested, the presence of an "Adult Superstore" in the same parking lot has no apparent impact on the hotel.
“Would not likely use it again”
The surrounding area seemed a bit in a need of improvement. The drive way entrance itself was not good. It had a lot of potholes. The motel itself was very plain. It also needed to be brighter inside with more decorations or something. The room was clean but it sure was very plain. Also it was advertised as to having a continental breakfast - very little was available & it wasn't ready at the time it was suppose to be. We had to wake up person to have service. I guess if you would compare it to other motels it sure wasn't very attractive at all.
“Book early if going to the Greenbrier Classic to avoid Ghent”
I have nothing wrong with Ghent, and if you're going skiing at Winterplace, then it would be great, but that is the only thing around (other than the porn store). We were going to the Greenbrier Classic and this was the only room we could find (about 45 minutes away from the shuttles).
“Impression: Sleeze Hotel”
The hotel was OK,however, we felt we were staying in a sleeze hotel because right in front of the hotel is an "ADULT SUPER STORE." The two share the same drive way and gravel parking area which had a number of trucks parked around it. This is the only hotel at that exit which gave the impression that people went to the adult store and then into the hotle to "do their thing." The "store" was advertised with huge bulletin boards on the highway for this exit. If we hadn't booked ahead of time, we would never have stopped. It was so bothersome that we paid a one night penalty to leave the next day.
