“Very impressed”

For the money we paid i wasn't expecting a great deal but the hotel was very nice with large comfortable rooms. Well located in Stevenage old town with plenty of bars and places to eat. We were only passing through really and this was exactly what we needed.

“Ok, but some of the rooms need renovations”

We arrived and checked in to find the room a little worse for wear. We asked to be moved and were able to move to a nicer room but staff was not overly willing to move us. The location is great as it is right in the middle of the village. Pricing was fine but there may be other hotels at a similar price which offer better value.

“Don't stay here in the summer”

I stayed in this hotel for two nights at the end of July 2008. On the first night I arrived late and was given a room which faced south west. It had had the sun streaming in all day with windows shut and curtains open. There is no air conditioning and there was no way of propping the window open. The hotel offered me a fan but I boiled all night. Next morning I insisted on a new room, which to be fair they had arranged for when I came back from work. However, it was still at the top of the hotel and was still hot (it had been another sunny day). The window actually opened so I could get a bit of fresh air but it was another very stuffy night - and a little noisy because the window was wide open. So in summary, I suggest you don't stay here unless you know that you will have cloudy weather or it is winter. Good luck.

Good location in the heart of old town. Lots of pubs and places to eat at.
