The hotel is nice. It sits by itself, in front of a canal in a wooded area. Not much surrounds the hotel.
But cab drivers don't want to go there. One driver told me the location was confusing. I had to pay a cabbie some extra incentive to take me there. You should probably call the hotel from the taxi to obtain directions for the driver.
I reserved a superior room, which was big and clean. Breakfast was good. For the best price, you should book the breakfast on-line.
During my stay, the pollution index in Beijing zoomed up into the dangerous level. Thus, I didn't go outside the hotel, except in the early morning. But in back of Traders is a canal and plenty of trees. It's quite nice and peaceful there.

My seven-day stay at Shangri-La was wonderful and everything I expected from a 5-star hotel. Another nice perk was that in-room wi-fi was free. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The only minor downside is that the hotel is located about a 20 minute walk from the nearest subway station.
Another tip -- there is a nice local supermarket called Uni-Mart located about a 5 minute walk from the hotel (exit the front entrance and make a right) where you can get any food/household items for relatively cheap prices.

Magnificent hotel, in every way. I stay 150 nights a year in hotels, mostly 5 star. This hotel deserves at least 6 stars. I cannot fault the room, food, staff, exec lounge, health centre, spa....and most importantly, the staff.

Generally, a good hotel. if you are OK to live on floor 76, not afraid of height, and ok to transfer lifts to get on higher floor. this is a very nice hotel.
Lift: due to all rooms are above 64 floors. this is something I don't like about this hotel, you have to change lifts to get on to the right floor. while changing, you will have to walk to the other side of the building. which makes you do not want to come down or get up again if you forgot something in the room or want to go out.
Gym & Swimming pool: Superb Swimming pool and GYM area. very very nice experiences if in the morning with sunshine! sunshine covers all Gym and swimming pool. possibly the highest GYM & Swimming pool in China.
nice to try once, but personally I feel that the hotel is too high in the air, not feeling very safe if you are afraid of height.
