“Botai Hotel, pretty sweet.”

I liked this hotel because it was convenient and clean and easily accessible. I liked that the staff was very courteous and helped out with a smile on their faces. I will most definitely recommend this place and stay here again if I go into the city.

this hotel in no way is a p;lace i would recomend a family. this is an interesting place where at about 12 at night i got a call to my room with one word "massage?" had this "call" to my room a couple of times gave me a good laugh. other than that if you really don't plan on staying in your room all the time and why would ya? then this place is OK but i am sure there are better solutions getting a cab back to the airport is not hard as the street in front is wild busy. best thing about this place is how close it is to the subway stations! i grew up in less than desirable areas so i can deal but if you have had everything handed to you in life stay away from here!

“you get what you pay for”

This was the cheapest option available through Expedia. Room was dreadful--small, dirty, with hard bed and worn sheets. The one saving grace is that the hotel was located within walking distance of a number of cheap but cheerful restaurants and not too far from the forbidden city.

“Cheap - but...”

Web images of the hotel must be 15 years old as the Botai no longer sparkles. Little english spoken. In the Luxury rooms the only place to open a case was on the chair in the room and the lighting was so dim we bought head lamps to read width. Internet was so slow all you could do was log on - not enough band width to even open emails let alone use skype. Situated about 1km from the metro 3 stops to change lines and 2 further stops to the forbidden city etc. room floors although swept have sticky residue from tenants past and the resident "massage" women call your room in the early hours EVERY night to offer their services on the room phone. Sooo while it may be cheap you seem to get exactly what you pay for. We have stayed in courtyard hotels since and they are a much better cheap option.

“Good for storing your luggage”

Upon our arrival last week - the first thing that was immediately apparent was the foul odor in the hallways ( smelled like a combination of bad fish and stale stagnant water). Unfortunately for us that smell was also in our room. The cause of that smell in our room was the water and moisture that was on the floor of the bathroom. The bathroom does not have a separate shower stall, so the water gets everywhere. The shower is just inside the door with a drain and no tub or stall. The toilet clogged twice in one night. In China, you apparently cannot use too much toilet paper. We complained and they gave us a different room the next morning. This room was a little better but still leaked and smelled. We had to buy air deodorizers from a supermarket ( air deodorizer was like almost next to impossible to find) in order to tolerate staying in our room . We made the most of it and still managed to enjoy China. The staff tried to help as much as possible. Bus 313 and 758 across the street from K.F.C. by the hotel took you to better shopping and eating area.
