“Chinese Traditional Courtyard”
It is real Chinese traditional courtyard. I can honestly say it’s the best overall hotel I’ve ever stayed in. If you want a cultural experience this is smack in the middle of a real Hutong with sights and sounds you will not get in a western style hotel. The rooms are decorated in a perfect, authentic Chinese style. The room is clean and comfortable,The staff is made up of wonderful. They are extremely helpful in suggesting places or helping you to locate places. The price is very reasonable as well. Overall, a very romantic spot for couples or anyone who wants to feel the real China.
“A REAL CHINA EXPERIENCE”
This Hotel is the best place to stay if you want a great China experience. This is the Hotel for you, It is located the Drum Tower and older section of the city. This is a throw back Hotel with a GREAT STAFF!!! You will not find a better or more helpfull staff any where.
“GREAT location with tons of character”
Conveniently located, cozy, simple, practical and efficient. Friendly staff. The courtyard style, all the fun of a hostel with all the amenities, professionalism and cleanliness of a hotel.Provides great welcome to first-time beijing visitors.
“location^3 and happiness”
This hotel is in the neatest location... but make sure to print the directions in Chinese (google maps), as taxi drivers rarely speak/read any English and Expedia's English address printout is useless. The staff are excellent, and food is reasonably priced and of OK quality (for China). Most important, this cute hotel is walking distance to most important attractions in the center of Beijing. The rooms have no sound isolation, and the beds are hard... but it doesn't matter. It's a great location and a cheap price, at a hotel that feels like home. Do it.
“Wonderful hotel that won't hurt your wallet.”
Hotel was a little difficult to find ta first partially because it is located on a small ally. But there are numerous bars, restaurants, and shops very close by. Staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful (about 90% of them spoke excellent English). Upkeep and condition of the hotel was very good, and I had no issues during my week long stay in Beijing. Not a 5-star hotel, but I would definitely recommend this place to my family and friends.
“Good atmosphere!”
LOVED the location. Down a local street off the main road, lots of good restaurants around, shops, bars. Everyone working at the hotel was super friendly and helpful. Had a nice courtyard with tables, Chinese decorations, and swinging bench! :)
“Very Primitive and small”
This Hotel was cosy, but it was out of the way of everything. It was located in an older part of the city and at first I was a little intiminated. To my surprise, I found out the people were very friendly and helpful in this area.
“Good basic choice”
Very helpful staff with adequate English. Quaint, with a certain charm. The bed was hard as a rock, but that is pretty common in Asia. Our cab driver would not drive down the road/alley the hotel is located on...only letting us off at the main road and pointing down the alleyway. Luckily some locals helped direct us; it was still quite a hike in from the main street. The front desk did book a cab for our ride to the airport, and for an extra fee did come to the front door of the hotel. Being 5 AM did help for him to not have to drive around all the pedestrians and bicycles. The immediate area around the hotel is pretty run down, but some of the nearby roads/alleyways ("hutong" in Chinese) are renovated with new and trendy shops.
“"Going Chinese"”
My hotel experience was great. The owner and receptionists were really accomodating. They can speak English well which made my stay more comfortable. The place is like a small China town with all the lanters, drum, kites, and other decorations in the lobby and terrace in the middle of the hotel. Although the water heater only lasts for five to ten minutes, I think it's enough to have a nice and warm bath. You just need turn it on again to make it work. The location of the hotel is a bit far from the subway station. It's a 15-20 minute walk. Nevertheless, I had a great and relaxing experience, If I'm going back to Beijing again, I will stay in this hotel again.
“So Disgusting. Hope Expedia removes this hotel.”
I cannot believe people give this place more than one star rating. The bedroom floor is cement/stone, so it was freezing cold at night or us. The heater in our room did not work, so we were freezing all night. We could not sleep. The restroom was so disgusting. There is no shower stall or tub. You shower and the water drains through the cracks in the wooden floor. The shower head is next to the toilet. It is no wonder the restroom smelled of urine and mold. Growing mold was visible on the restroom walls. The hotel is located on a small, unpaved street which in the U.S. we would call an alley. These are just facts.
