Budget accomodation with best optionPosted Jun 27, 2013
This hotel is 20min walking distancee from the Forbidden City and 40 min walk away from the night market. food outside the hotel is very cheap and the price goes up as you move away. The front desk person at night is the one who can speak english, day time one struggles. From the airport or Bus stop ask the driver to give a call to the hotel to find out the location as it is in the middle of no where. wifi may or may not work in you room but works oerfectly in the lobby. You will not get disturbed by outsiders. Bus stop is close by, Bank is close by but subway train 20 min walk away. if you are going for budget accomodation, i will say one of the best option.

Don't go to this hotel unless you have no other! On this trip, there was no heat and no hot water. I was absolutely frozen the entire two nights. No explanation was given. In addition, there was a horrific sewage smell coming from the three floor drains in the bathroom.

A Little Let DownPosted May 23, 2012 on Hotels.com
Communication via email with the hotel staff prior to arrival was very prompt and helpful. Pick-up from the train station and transport to the airport was very orderly. Our group appreciated Ms.Shen's help with booking tickets to events! The location is walking distance from T.Square and a Metro station making transport around the city easy. I liked the location of the hotel, it felt safe and was very quaint. I was disappointed to find out after all that breakfast was NOT included in the price. We were asked for a key deposit that we were unprepared for and had to scramble for cash. The rooms were more run-down then I had expected, they look different then the pictures. I have traveled a lot, and I wouldn't say they were the most unclean room I've stayed in, but they weren't very clean either. The showerhead sprayed up, making the whole floor wet every time we showered. A/C was not the best. I would compare these hotel rooms to an old Motel 6 or Red Roof Inn in the U.S. Overall, I'd say that if you are going to be out all day exploring and only sleeping at the hotel you'll do fine. If you are wanting to spend down-time at the hotel, you probably won't find it very relaxing. If I go back to Beijing, I would not stay here again, just because for the price I paid, I believe I could find a hotel that is a little cleaner, still is in a good location and that includes breakfast.

Sight-seeing BeijingPosted Apr 30, 2012 on Hotels.com
Rooms were booked 2 months in advance, but upon our late arrival (9pm) we were placed in basement rooms. Toilets were ancient and dirty, doors had wood rot. Manger was not on and so it was those rooms or no rooms. Next day rooms were changed without a problem. Massage was very poor in hotel and made my mother's legs black from pinching. However, the youth hostel is set in a gt area and walking distance from numerous sites. Perfect location, second room was basic, but fine!

The hotel is in the most perfect position for the main sights around Tiananmen Square and the hutong. The hotel is very clean and has a friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is value for money in a big way.

Beijing Far East Hotel, in a hutongPosted Oct 10, 2011 on Hotels.com
Great location, two stars at best though. Backpacker or very experienced traveler would be more comfortable here. I would recommend the Far East - Beijing to those who are not spending lots of time in the unit.

Crackhouse ConditionsPosted Sep 14, 2011
I have never stayed in such a disgusting, filthy lodging in my entire life. This is the kind of place I'd imagine Amy Winehouse going to die. It started with the Gag reflex inducing stench from the public restroom on the second floor. The rug had cigarette burns and layers of dust and filth. All the furniture was nicked and damaged. But the worst part was the bathroom. It stunk as though the 1000 people peed all over it and no one ever cleaned it. Horrible. The tiles on the floor and in the shower had black mold. The door frame was peeling and had black mold. We walked down to the basement to check out the hostel and found worse conditions. I wanted to leave but had prepaid for the room and didn't have a credit card due to a pickpocket. We tried to stick it out, bought and air freshener to spray the bathroom. But the stench was coming up through the plumbing. We shut the bathroom door at night, but it seeped through the wall. It was so bad we couldn't sleep. Finally, at 3 am we demanded to change rooms. Our room on the third floor had the same hallway stench. The room itself didn't stink. The floor was not carpeted. The bathroom still had black mold, but at least it didn't reek. The beds were okay. Sheets were scratchy, ripped and stained. The maid cleaned and each day we found more long black hairs were mopped into our room. I'm blonde and my friend had super short brown hair.

Good location, bit tiredPosted Jul 25, 2011
This hotel in in a great location with a fantastic selection of local eateries. Sadly, the hotel says it offers many services that it is not able to provide. Once we found the place (our taxi driver had to ask a woman on the side of the road) we were booked in by the rudest man we have ever met. He should never be in front of house, his people skills are appalling. We were told there was wifi in the lobby but it did not work during the four nights we were there. The restaurant in the hotel was very expensive and not well patronised. The coffee bar was staffed by rude and grumpy girls. The sunniest people in the hotel were the women in the travel booking area.
