“Good Place to Stay”
This is a very nice hotel, is offered at a very reasonable rate that includes and very extensive breakfast -- both Chinese food and American food, including an omlette station. This hotel is near antique centers and is a 15 minute walk from the famous Pan jia yuan flea or dirt market. This is why I stay here. (I love visiting the market, especially on the weekend when everything is open.) The hotel staff is friendly, a number of employees speak English, and they exchange US currency for Chinese currency without a fee. This hotel is a little distance from the Pearl Market, Silk Market, and other attractions, like Tienanmen Square. But Beijing, being as spread out as it is, the truth is: if you are close to something, you are not close to anything else. Taxis are cheap, but during rush hour it is hard to get a taxi to take you anywhere, because a 45 minute ride will only cost $3 or less, and it is not worth it to them. The option is to use the subway which is not as hard as one may think. The stop is at least a 20 minute walk from the hotel, but at the corner of the hotel are rickshaws and for about 5 rmb (about 75 cents), they will take two people right there to the Jinsong station, and for 2 rmb (about 30 cents) you can take the subway almost anywhere, or at least close enough to your destination to then take a taxi. I have stayed at this hotel at least four times and would stay there again.

South Chaoyang, Beijing, China: South Chaoyang encompasses an ever increasing number of high-rise offices, modern apartments, and hotels. The chaotic yet festive Panjiayuan weekend flea market features 3,000 stalls of traditional crafts, antiques, pottery, trinkets, and jewelry. Just as alluring is Beijings Curio City of second-hand stalls stacked with antiques, pottery, paintings, carvings, furniture, and jade.
