“A perfect hotel on a budget”
I must say I wasn't sure what to expect after flying half way across the world. I knew already from the information I was sent that the hotel seemed to be in a good location, but it wasn't until after a few days that I realized that we were actually in a great location.
There were so many things that we could just walk to, 10 minutes away was Bei Hai Park and the Drum and Bell towers. Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City were also only 20 minutes away, but the best was directly to the east of us was a popular Hutong (an alley) which was full of a lot of great businesses, restaurants, coffee shops and street vendors. Prices in the area were very inexpensive since we were not in a major tourist area. We would eat sometimes for only a few yuan.
But the matter of fact it the hotel's breakfast was only 10 yuan for all you can eat breakfast, which included nothing but freshly made food. Dumplings, steamed celery, rice porridge, some other rolled dumpling, boiled eggs, soup and this amazing coffee which tasted like a different variety of espresso that what I was used to. I may even be forgetting some of the items.
All the rooms were small, but had ample room, I mean we are in China. Full plumbing and shower and if we needed it there was a/c. Free internet (not wireless) and TV (if you want to watch Chinese TV).
The staff were more than willing to go out of their way to help us on any occasion, and if they couldn't help us, they would immediately find someone who would.
