“A Great Beijing Experience.”
We were most impressed with Courtyard 7. The staff who spoke very good english were friendly, accommodating and very helpful. As we were concerned about how to get to the hotel we were emailed instructions to the taxi driver, in Chinese, on how to get there from the airport. We were also informed in what we might expect to pay. This was a major concern to us as our Chinese is absolutely minimal and we didn't want to start our holiday off by getting "Lost in Beijing". We were shown to our room, and we were delighted with the cleanliness, unique character and solitude in the middle such a large boisterous city. The staff gave us information on how to get to the sights we wished to visit so we felt confident as we headed out each morning. And I might add, happy and content after our very good and complimentary western style breakfast. The hotel is situated in a historic hutong area which is 15 minutes walk away from the Metro, and about 30 to 40 minutes walk to the Forbidden City. You may find it easier to get a taxi if you walk out to a main street, where you can flag one down quite readily. After a busy and tiring day of sightseeing we decided to have dinner at the hotel rather and always found it a nice experience. The staff again were wonderful, the food good, and the ambience and quietness of the restaurant very relaxing. I would not hesitate to recommend the Courtyard 7 to anyone who is travelling to Beijing who wishes to experience something special.
