“Very nice - the 2BR unit is great for a family of 5”

We checked in late, and it took them a while to get the extra single roll-away bed upstairs, but overall this hotel was great. It is definitely "the" place to stay in Beijing, especially if travelling with family. We had a 2br unit with a nice kitchen and living room and the three kids fit fine in second bedroom with two singles and a roll-away bed. The pool is absolutely perfect for the family after a long day - the best spa quality lounge with a huge pool, two hot tubs, and private saunas, steamrooms and baths in each mens/womens changing room. Definitely recommended!

“Beautiful and confortable hotel”

This 5-stars hotel is really wonderful. Very confortable bedroom. All the staff was very helpful (and fluent in English). It has an excellent Italian restaurant. And the swimming-pool and massage area, even if you only have a short stay, deserves at least a fast visit, because of its beautiful design. There is a big Mall beside the hotel, which is near the Forbidden City (you can easily walk till there).

“Terrific hotel.”

We had a wonderful experience at the Grand Hyatt Bejing. This hotel is first rate in every way. Location, service, luxury of the rooms, restaurants, bar, English speakers, concierge were all excellent. A great value and a perfect refuge from the bustle of Beijing. I would recommend it for any traveler.

What to pack

Beijing is not a casual town. The Chinese dress up and we often felt underdressed in our casual American travel clothes.

“Great stay!”

Awesome hotel. Close to night market with scorpion on a stick, access to Oriental Plaza, which is a stateside type mall. There is a grocery store in it. Around the corner from the hotel is a Starbucks and a McDonalds. The room was nice. Two bedroom suite with kitchen and full size fridge. No cooking capability. The pool is the coolest. Kids loved it. Its a tropical theme with a waterfall and two hot tubs. The gym was superb with treadmills, freeweights, and nautilus equipment. The subway is in the mall and convenient. Its cheap too. It was $2 for the four of us. Internet did not come complimentary which is my only negative.

Area recommendations

Hit the Great Wall, Tianamen Square, and the Forbidden City. The hotel is a short walk from the square and Forbidden city. The Temple of Heaven is a must see. The night market is around the corner from the hotel with cheap gifts. Hit the pearl market and the silk market. Everything is marked up 75%, so when you bargain, cut the price they give you by at least 75%. Some of the prices they started with were more expensive than stateside purchase.

Getting there

We called the hotel and booked the 6 pax Benz ride from the airport to the hotel. They will have an airport official meet you once you get off the plane and walk you through immigration all the way to get your bags, and make sure you get to the van. Very VIP!! It was a smooth ride. They do the same thing going to the airport. We left ANA and got there too early. They dont open until 2.5 hours prior to departure.

“Great hotel for kids”

Beautiful hotel, super service. Wonderful restaurants and room service. Fantastic pool and spa, including a kiddie pool. The hotel is attached to a western-style shopping center with great shopping, a grocery store and many good restaurants. We were traveling with our 2 year old and the staff was so attentive and accommodating.

“Beautiful hotel with a great indoor pool area”

We recently stayed in a two bedroom suite here on the club level. This was a great hotel! The service was great, and the room was immaculate. We loved the club level--a very nice breakfast was provided, and the happy hour heavy appetizers were actually sufficient for dinner if you're not a big eater. English was not a problem for anyone at the front desk. The indoor pool area was absolutely gorgeous--like being in a different world. I'd highly recommend this hotel.

“DO stay at the Grand Hyatt in Beijing!”

We are big fans of Hyatt anyway so our expectations are always high. We were NOT disappointed! We got a rate that included the Club Loungle Floor so a fantastic breakfast and very good cocktail (evening) hours was included. Be sure to also visit the Pool. You wont believe it's indoors. The location is walking distance to Tianamen Square and The Forbidden city. Shopping (albeit expensive) is also next door. The Italian restaurant at the hotel was a bit pricey but very good. The buffet next to it is even better. Unfortunately, we were only in Beijing for 3 days.

Area recommendations

Tianamen Square, Olympic Village (from 2008), Forbidden City, The Great Wall. Don't rule out hiring a Local Guide vs, a Bus Tour.

“Fantastic Hotel, Heart of beijing”

Very convenient. Best concierge staff, very convenient and delivered as promised. Wonderful restaurants, amazing pool. Location, heart of beijing, on oriental plaza mall, right near Tiannaman Square, at Subway. Highly recommend
