"Best boutique hotel I've stayed in"
I don't normally write a review unless I am in love with the place or stayed in a terrible hotel. This hotel is super cute and just absolutely beautiful. I mean drop dead beautiful. It's very traditional Beijing style or also known as siheyuan style buildings. The device is great and can speak English very well if needed. The free breakfast in the morning was awesome. I always got the Chinese breakfast while my boyfriend, who is from Tianjin, always got the American breakfast. Both are yummy and served in the little courtyard of the hotel. The only complaint I would say I had was the windows facing the courtyard are thin and let in some noise. Because he courtyard is enclosed the sound gets amplified making it way into the room while others have breakfast. Not a huge complaint because it wasn't to loud, but something noted if you're a light sleeper and want to sleep through breakfast that ends at 9:30. Basically the hotel is fairly new, maybe built/renovated a few years ago, and cleaned very nicely everyday. This hotel I will definitely stay again with my boyfriend when I come visit Beijing again. Note: it's a type of hotel that's meant for couples.

"We will never stay anywhere else in Beijing!"
From even before we arrived, the Beijing Double Happiness Hotel was helping us. They called our taxi driver from the airport to make sure he knew where to take us, and to drive us all the way down the alley to the hotel. They had a very substantial English and Chinese breakfast. The front desk staff was wonderful, providing us with maps, brochures, and helpful information to make our stay enjoyable. Our room was beautiful, and we returned each night to our curtains drawn and candy on our bed! Beijing was beautiful, and we were grateful to step out of the hustle-and-bustle to the quiet alley of the hotel and beautiful courtyards. We felt very cared for during our stay, and will definitely stay here on our return to Beijing!

"Beautiful quiet courtyard in the middle of Beijing"
The beauty of this quiet courtyard hotel is apparent only once you are inside - it is off a non-auto alley or "hutong" in the older hutong neighborhood of downtown Beijing. We had the luck to be there on some rare clear-weather days in Beijing, so the sun and blue sky above the traditional tiles of the roof and the courtyard trees were just beautiful. Hard to believe you're in the middle of the city - this is steps away from the NanLuoGuXiang older shopping street (filled more with Chinese domestic tourists than international ones), and a 10 minute walk from the subway or from the historic Drum Tower. The rooms are a bit small and the beds very firm - after our second night, we mentioned this and got another, much more comfortable layer on the bed. Very nice, new bathroom, and comfortable a/c. The restaurant is excellent - eggs to order for breakfast and a very nice inexpensive lunch menu. The staff's English is varied but they were all very helpful.

"Oasis of calm in Bejing"
We stayed for 5 days during June and found the hotel very relaxing and restful. Staying here was like staying in someones home with your own room. The courtyard is a very pleasant place to sit and read or have your breakfast. Breakfast if required is basic but fine to get you going of a morning. The bed was ok to sleep on and not to hard. Bathroom is quite small but always had hot water available. This hotel is reached from the main road by alleyways so it is best to have a map and address in Chinese. This is in a very safe neighborhood with plenty of local people, young and old who always seem to be socialising amongst themselves as this is a living neighborhood. In the future hutongs may slowly disappear so experience one when you can. The Metro line is only 5 minutes away, and from there Beijing is your oyster.

"nice place, hard to get to with out print of hotl"
When you arrange a ride and they leave you hanging it is bad . The people at the airport state they cannot speak English cannot help you. Found the airport express, I got on the airport express very nice helpful people went to second stop on their advise to the subway, cannot remember the stop, got off, went to stand for subway very nice person told me 2 stop to get off from there, then got a motorbike people carrier ride to hotel total 25 for train, 3 for subway, 40 for people carried to hotel. A great adventure. I did not trust the airport people telling me to take the taxi, would not give me a price stating it is metered. As I rode the train saw the backed up traffic to the area where hotel was. cannot image what the cost would have been. for a total 68 yaun made it to the hotel in less than 30 minutes from the airport. Be adventuresome, only two stop for the airport express train. if you print the hotel information it list the subway stop. only two stops on the line right there by the ticket stand. Very nice people on the motorbike carriers , 5 minutes to the hotel. 30 to 45 minute walk to tianamin square, forbidden city from the hotel

"Experience Hutong"
The hotel is in the middle of Hutong alley. Early morning or evening when the temperature is milder, you can see people's life just in front of the hotel. The room was small but you can relax in the hotel lounge where there are lots of beautiful arts books and art. A little far from the subway station but fun to walk through the alley to get there. I recommend this hotel in Beijing for a vacation stay.

Great place to stay if you want to experience the feel of a chinese courtyard house in a hutong. Yes, the rooms and bathrooms are on the small side by today's standards, but that is part of the charm. They worked with what the original building had to offer when they converted it to a small hotel. The staff was really great. Could not have been more helpful.
