Too far from everythingPosted Aug 21, 2010
Our room was comfortable with a huge comfortable queen size bed that came with 4 pillows. Bathroom was nice with marble floors and walls, complete with a tub and separate shower and separate toilet! But looks were somewhat deceiving as the toilet stopped flushing twice. Having a separate shower was great, except the water doesn't drain completely after use and water sometimes seeped out into the adjacent toilet area. In the room itself, your treated to a nice sized LCD TV with loads of channels, but I wish they had more English channels....there's only so much Discovery channel you can watch at night. As for other hotel amenities, the indoor heated pool was nice as there's almost never people in it. There's also 3 restaurants inside, Thai, Chinese and an international buffet. Weirdest thing though was every floor we went to smelled like cat urine in the morning. Strange...but overall the stay was comfortable. But the problem is location. It's in a quiet more residential district that's far from central Beijing. Although it's on the main artery, it's about 40min from the airport, so getting to Tian'anmen square takes almost 25 min by bus. The bus stop is about 3 min walk but the nearest subway was about a 10 min walk. Best suggestion if you want to take the subway, is to take the bus 1 stop to the Wukesong station. Good food is rare here as well. But I guess you get what you pay for.

Great hotelPosted Jul 14, 2010
This hotel is quite out of the city centre so when booking tours they arent too keen to collect from the hotel. The traffic is bad to get to town by car but a 10 minute walk to the metro was all it took. We used the metro a lot instead of using taxis. The surrounding area isnt great and we battled to find resturants with an English menu. Ate a bit at the street vendors across from the hotel which was good and cheap. Our only complaint was that our room was next to or near an elevator so heard the noise all night. Didnt request a room change, but should have.
