    Dining

Justine's - The first French restaurant to open in Beijing, in 1982, continues to serve authentic Gallic fare, and offers a good selection of wines. Dark woods, chandeliers, ceiling drapes, plush seating, and candle-lit tables create an opulent setting, with a classical harpist playing most evenings. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Cafe - Overlooking the garden, with Spanish-influenced wall frescos and brass chandeliers evoking a rustic atmosphere. Weather permitting, the restaurant opens into a beer garden. International fare and local specialties. Open from early morning until late evening.

Four Seasons - A floral carpet, lacquerware, and red table lanterns set the tone of this traditional-style restaurant, which overlooks the garden. Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine predominate. Open from midmorning until late evening.

Charlie's Bar - A British-style pub, with dark woods and leather chairs giving it a clubby atmosphere. A live band performs most nights. Pub food and snacks are available, and a good selection of local and imported beers. Open from late afternoon until late evening.

“Location and price can't be beat.”

We were very pleased with the Hotel and Service. Even through we did not speak Chinese the staff was very helpful and we had no trouble getting around the city, The rooms were cleaned immediately and anything we asked for was taken care of.

    When to go
We went the first week in October during National Day. It was a bit crowded but didn't hold us back. I probably will go a week later. The weather was perfect, cool and sunny.
    Getting there
The flight is very long but American Airlines was very comforable. More leg room than most over seas flights.
    Getting around
The subway was easy to use even through we did not speak a word of Chinese. The cabs were very inexpensive but you must have a card with where you want to go written in Chinese and another landmark written on the card. We were taken to 3 different hotels with the same name as ours.
    What to pack
We packed way to much. Layers and neutral shades of clothes are all you need.
    Must see
The wall , the forbidden city, old town, olympic center.
    Shopping
Shopping was the best. The prices where really cheap for really nice things. We were overwhelmed and didn't buy as much as we should have....I will have to go back.
    Dining
The food was average, even at the best restaraunts. We went to Boulads and it was good but not great.
    Events and shows
We went to two shows and they were good the Kung Fu was better than Chinese acrobats.

    “Very pleasant experience”

This is an excellent hotel in a very good, safe neighborhood. Good shopping within a 1/2 mile radius, good restaurants in and surrounding the hotel; immediately adjacent to a subway stop, with access throughout Beijing. I highly recommend this hotel.

    “Excellent Hotel”

Stayed here for 8 nights during the National Day holiday. Guest service was prompt and attentive. Rooms were well maintained. Hotel restaurants served quality meals and there were many other dining options nearby. Hotel in a very convenient location next to the subway.Hotel gardens were undergoing some maintenance work during my stay. Would stay here again.

    Traveler's tip
The Silk Market is one block west of the hotel. Bargain hard, you can usually get the vendors to sell you the items at 20% of their original offer price.

“A very cozy and hotel at a very convenient location”

I found Jianguo Hotel, Bejing a very convenient and cozy place to losdge while at Beijing. Hotel room was very comfortable and we found it very cozy. The decoration was neither too modern nor too archaic: just right. There was ample space within the room and all the amenities were in good working order. The hotel features a nice interrrior garden that makes it very relaxing to cool off. The location of Jianguo is superb: right next to a metro station and close by to a number of places you can visit by just walking to eat, shop or just see around. Staff was polite and well groomed.

    Traveler's tip
Right across there is the Twin Tower mall with a nice supermarket where you can find decent and healthy food. Don't miss wandering around the small neighborhood right behind the hotel with small grocery stores and local restaurants. Nearby there is a street full of restaurants and clothing stores. Keep walking down that street and visit "The Place"
