“A wonderful place to stay in Beijing”

The Shangri-la Kerry Center Hotel is an excellent hotel. The staff was warm and friendly, extremely helpful, and they speak English really well. Our room was large, well-appointed, had a great 20th floor view of the new Rem Koolhaas building, and it was very well-maintained while we were there. There are a number of really good restaurants in the hotel mall. Nice shops too. Great Asian and western breakfast buffet on the 18th floor as well as free drinks and wonderful hors d'oeuvres (these are perks for members of the hotel (horizon?) club. Don't really know why we got these perks (and others) since our room was not one of the more expensive. But we did. All-in-all a great place to stay.

I have stayed in a few Shangri-La Hotels and they are always excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

I have traveled to Beijing for 20 years and stayed in many different hotels, almost always on business. For a combination of comfort, value and functionality, Shangri-La's Kerry Centre is my favorite.

“Good location for the British Embassy”

Chose Shangri La because it is close to the British Embassy where I needed to visit two days in succession to process some paperwork. Otherwise I would not choose to stay here for leisure as it is not a good location for site seeing or shopping. There are many hotels in Beijing of the same standard but with lower rates and better locations. Having said that the standard of the room was excellent - I paid extra for a premium room which was very large and very comfortable. The hotel was quiet during my stay as it was over a weekend so it somewhat lacked atmosphere. I suspect that most of its trade is from people staying on business.

“Front Desk- not helpful”

The rooms and hotel's location were fine but when you asked the front desk or conciege for a recommendation for dinner, no help at all. We asked if there any restaurants within walking distance and they had NO suggestions. When we asked about the hours the largest museum in Beijing was open they gave us inaccurate information. We read it was closed for renovations in preperation for Olympic and it was but our hotel didn't know that. They were very bad.
