My Beijing home

Pros: The breakfast was splendid.
The architecture of the hotel is spectacular, and the finishing details likewise. The carpeting is another story. I loved living at the hotel and would return.

Great 5 Star Hotel

Posted May 5, 2014
Pros: Very elegant and luxurious and clean
Cons: When exiting the elevator on your floor, there is a minor odor coming from the carpet or cleaning solutions used in that area.
Location: Close to nearby shops, subway (Line 5), Wanfunjin Street, close to Flea market, Tiannamen Square, Forbidden City, Lama Temple, Temple of Heaven.
Gorgeous hotel with French Design. Marble, Glass, and Gold everywhere. Extremely Luxurious. Breakfast buffet had a great selection. Close to nearby shops, subway (Line 5), Wanfunjin Street, close to Flea market, Tiannamen Square, Forbidden City, Lama Temple, Temple of Heaven. Hotel has a tour desk and even arranged train tickets to different city (1 day advance notice needed). Very helpful & friendly staff. Many locals expressed this hotel is very well-known and 5 star. I Loved it! Air Conditioned, shower & spa tub, robes, slippers, safe, etc...

Excellent hotel in the central part of the city.

Posted Apr 9, 2014
Pros: It was a great place to stay.
Cons: The cleaning of the bathroom was done superficially leaving the soiled marble to tell the story.
Location: Central location. I walked to a very nice yes "Chinese Restaurant" (that's what the signage said); subway two blocks and best Peking Duck next door!
The immediate impact of the hotel as you enter is that of a Grand Old Hotel. It has much detail and ornamentation that you wouldn't associate with a newer hotel. The rooms are built around an open center that goes all the way up to the ceiling which must have been about 18-20 stories high making quite an impressive impact. However I found out the hotel is quite new (build to house people initially for the Olympics). There were staff that spoke English to be found. The included breakfast offered a wide assortment of foods and was plentiful and good. The rooms are very large and offer a bathtub (with salt crystals for a relaxing soak) as well as a large shower. Television had multiple channels for news, information and entertainment which included multiple premium movie channels. The Gray Lines representative in the lobby was helpful in booking a tour as well as providing activities I could do on my own within walking and/or cab/subway travel nearby. Only negative I experienced was the marble surface around the bathroom sink clearly had not been cleaned well for a long time. There was residue from previous use apparent on most all the large surface. I was apple to clean it with some soup and elbow grease using one of the many towels that were available. Not a deal breaker. This is an exceptionally good hotel. You will be pleased if you do stay there if you are going to Beijing.
