Photos don't tell the truth

The location on the hotels.com website had an error so this was 30 min taxi ride from where I intended to be and 10 min walk to the nearest subway or grocery store. Then the hotel lobby was under renovation which wasn't a great first impression. Next the first room we were given had a smelly bathroom so we changed to another one that still had a stench. The bathroom was so small there wasn't space to even put a wash bag next to the sink. The room wasn't as big and spacious as it looked in the photos on hotels.com. The room has an electrostatic air purifier which makes noise when zapping dust which woke me up several times during the night. We ended up checking out after one night and moving to the Sheraton. When we checked out early the hotel staff told me I wasn't allowed to leave until they received confirmation from hotels.com who they and I had just talked to over the phone. I waited thirty minutes and then insisted that I had to leave even though the staff tried to tell me I wasn't allowed to leave. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless it's a convenient location for you. There are many nicer hotels that are similar in price.
