Great place to stay if you want to experience the feel of a chinese courtyard house in a hutong. Yes, the rooms and bathrooms are on the small side by today's standards, but that is part of the charm. They worked with what the original building had to offer when they converted it to a small hotel. The staff was really great. Could not have been more helpful.

Hotel was originally hard to find, no one knew it at the airpot, but after phoning them up, the taxi driver seemed to know what to do. If you go there, below the KFC sign is a door entrance to the apartment block. Go to the 12th floor, and inside it's the first door on the left.
Owner was pretty friendly, we used a google translate type tool to communicate, made sure that the internet was working before leaving, also offered to walk me to a gym that was around 15 minutes away.
Was left alone for the week in the room, wasn't any cleaning service, but I didn't mind that.
The area is pretty cool. There's a supermarket and mini-mall downstairs.

The hotel was an old palace of a Ming Princess. Very small but oozing charm. The hotel staff, really more a motel by american standard as it was so small, would go out of there way to make sure that I was happy. The location is inside a Hutong, that gave it great atmosphere. Not for the faint hearted, as they my not feel comfortable staying in a Hutong. But for me, it just added to the entire experience. They did a wonderful job renovating the place but the courtyard is open air, cold in the winter. But had it been enclosed, it would have taken away from the charm of the place. Internet access, hospitality, and location makes this hotel a wonderful experience. Just remember that it is not a large hotel and doesn't have a gym, ect. But if you want a truly Chinese experience without the hassle, this is the place.
