Very nice hotel, but my reservation was lost...
When I got to the hotel they did not have my reservation, I don’t know if this was their fault or Expedia’s but it was a real headache to sort out. That being said, the hotel was very clean and comfortable, the staff was very nice (however, be aware none of the staff speaks English). The breakfast was good. It’s a nice area with restaurants and activities nearby.

Good location, good hotel, unpleasant room
Had a room without a window. No problem with that but the low ceiling and air conditioning which made the room even warmer, made for a room that was an unpleasant place to be. The hotel is good and in a vibrant area but avoid the cheap rooms. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Great location / Excellent value
The hotel is very clean and the service is excellent . The location is very good and close to the subway making it easy to get anywhere if you know the system . The basement room was very clean , spacious & comfortable . No view of course but all we were using the room for is a bed & a shower . The upgraded rooms looked very nice and if I was going to be in the room at all I would think they are an excellent value as well . The WiFi is a little difficult but about as good as you get in Beijing . Keep in mind if you’re a tourist you better know some Manderin because English is rare in the area .

Three nights in the Ping An Fu
It was fairly near the city centre and very close to a subway station which was a big plus when it came to getting to places. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel had very good amenities. It was both clean and comfortable. Price was very reasonable too. The only downside I had was difficulty in connecting to the WI-FI. It seemed that you had to do it through the T.V. and all the instructions were in Chinese. I suppose I could have asked for help. but I'm a bloke, aren't I?

Happy I chose this hotel. So convenient for getting around Beijing on the subway. I chose a budget room (windowless) which made my Beijing stay VERY affordable. The bathroom is chinese style as in the toilet and shower are in same wet area. The restaurant serves nice food, some reception staff speak english. There is a notice board (windowless room level) that has pink small pieces of paper with local sights and instructions in chinese and english on how to get there.

DO NO STAY HERE, PLEASE READ!!!
Ive never done a review like this before!! Im pretty easy going BUT...Do not stay here, I repeat, do not stay here!! First of all, EXPEDIA's advertising about this hotel is completely misleading!! 1. To begin our Beijing stay, we had the rudest staff in the world, and Ive been to many places, here they are by far the worst, they made us feel we are working for them or making them work soooo hard and not at all them providing us with a service we paid for as it should be!! It is also NOT stated in expedia that we would be charged $200 CNY up front for our room card!!!! (Refunded upon check out but still, a bit of a heads up would have been nice!!) 2. Our basement room (which was the only option available on expedia but it did not say why), had indeed NO windows, the smell of mould and just bad oudoors in general made the stay a nightmare, it forced us to keep our door wide open every night, it was also soooo warm inside and when we asked the staff to please turn down the central heating or whatever they had on, they said it was too cold for them and would get short tempered about it!!! My bad!!! 3. The info here on expedia says you can buy breakfast by paying a specific CNY amount, this is incorrect because the restaurant is closed and breakfast is not available due to hotel renovations, which brings me to number 4. This hotel is undergoing complete and full renovations and this is NOWHERE stated under hotel info sold by expedia!!! The hotel entrance and front are blocked, it

hHEAVEN AND HELL
It is difficult to fairly rate this hotel. It is very conveniently located, close to subway, Wangfiyung Streat, Beixiqiao St, Lama Temple etc. The front desk people have limited english knowledge, but very helpfull. This hotel operates rooms windowless rooms in the split level basement, which causes ventilation problems. After a hot shower leaving the room the power shut off so if the wents work in the room , all shut off and imagine where the moisture go, the bedding, clothing etc.I stayed the lower part of the basement in room 3005, where the wents were there for making noise only, the washed clothing was just as wet 24 hrs later, and the bedding was uncomfortably wet. the army of sewage fllyes had only nutrition US. the mold has been accumulating since they build this glass enclosed shower tiolet, sink compartment in one airspace. Tje sewage smell heavily howering in the air. We tolerated this for one night We moved to 3003 where at least the fans were working, and no sewage flyes, but the stink was also apperant. This should be for staff use not for hotel rooms. On top of that the janitor went through our lugauges, and also messed with one of my suitcase lock. THAIS IS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE FOR RATING, I WANT TO GIVE ZERO STAR RATING, BUT THERE IS NO SUCH, BUT PAYING FOR 6 DAYS IN A HOTEL NOT HAVING THE PIECE OF MIND WHAT WILL DISAPPEARE FROM MY TRUNK, IS VERY UPSETTING.

Uncomfortable & Unclean room
I don't frequently rate places I stay. This room was uncomfortable to sleep in. The mattress felt like a park bench. There was a used band-aid stuck to the night stand. There were dead mosquitos smeared all along the wall by the bed. There was no attention to detail here in cleaning before I checked in. I don't require a lot to be comfortable and I've traveled a lot in Asia on a budget, but this was below standard. 2 out of 5 rating.

Cheap hotel with good location
For budget minded travelers who want to be near were all the night life is, and doesn't want to stay in a hostel, this place is a good choice. Staff was freindly, some spoke english, and I didn't have a single issue during my stay. Cleanliness of bedding was good, showers were clean and had consistent hot water. Carpet looked a bit warm and stained. Walls are thin, you'll hear all the noises, wasn't an issue for me but it may be for others.

Good Hotel for the Value and Services, Thin Walls
For the most part the hotel stay was rather nice. However, I have noticed that while the hotel is very nice, clean, and the stay courteous, when hotels are a little more inexpensive, the other guests may not be the best... I had a room without windows which did not bother me but the people who insist on smoking with their door open is an issue. Also, there was a family with a child who was told to go out and play in the hallway. Unfortunately, the child was playing in front of my room most of the time by stomping and jumping off of things. While the staff was helpful and attentive, the other guests and the lack of noise buffering was an issue. After one night of child stomping, my next door neighbor also commented on the thin walls. Despite the other people, I would try the hotel again because the service was excellent, the neighborhood is good, and the hotel is conveniently located near the 2 and 5 train lines. Also, the hotel has these slips of pre-printed paper which have the most common tourist locations and attractions which are really helpful for non-Chinese speaking guests.

Great location, near MRT & bus-stop. Clean & quiet
I stayed in a twin-bed room with my husband for the weekend after the Parade in the first week of September. The windows face the back of a hutong with trees lining outside. Bed sheets and towels are cleaned and are changed daily. Free tea bags and bottled water. The two nights were very quiet and I don't hear much noise. Good value for money.

Convenient Location to Subway but not pristine!
The lobby was a great meeting place to connect with tour guides, and the hotel is very close (<3 minute walk) to the subway station, making it easy to connect to our flights. The front desk staff accommodated our all day luggage hold, spoke minimal English. Our view, was a concrete wall with wires, and the floor did not look vacuumed prior to our arrival, not did it appear that they ever vacuumed the floor, or emptied the bathroom trash while we were there (3 nights. We tolerated it, as we only in the room to sleep. We were gone the entire days!)

Solid choice for the money
This place definitely has seen its better days, but still a very good choice for its price. + Low price + Very close to a subway station + Picturesque district with old 1-2 story buildings + A number of cafes and shops nearby + Quite good Internet connection for the mainland China + Walls seemed to be thicker than usual - Room's furniture is real old and worn; bathroom was OK, though - No heating in a room except conditioner, so may be problematic in winter months Front desk staff mastered some good enough English, so there was no problem with that. Definitely will stay there again if the location is important and on budget.

Near Subway, low cost
Very convenient for someone on medium budget visiting Beijing. Very close to Line 5 which takes one to Temple of Heaven. Good connections to Airport Express subway and subways to Tiananmen, Forbidden City and Summer Palace. Staff try hard to communicate well in English. Speak slowly and smile and things will go well. Some evenings we smelled cigarette smoke coming into our room from the hallway. Several restaurants nearby. Generally clean, but carpets are old. Some mold on bottom of tub mat. Rooms cleaned well daily.

Interesting area, easy to access via subway
They were very accommodating but the idea of a Non Smoking room seems tricky to them. My first room was impossible to breathe in and the second I was fumed out during the night with smoke filtering thru my door. I had to stuff towels around to make it bearable. The windows didn't open so that was not an option. It was an Olde worldy kind of place with some charm and possibly the higher end rooms may have been really nice. The hotel is showing its age but the people working there were very obliging and I found it charming. The surrounding area was really interesting and I spent hours just round the corner in the next street. The subway was so close, great food shops and the Lama Temple pretty handy. No name is in English out the front. Go to C gate of the Zhangzhizhong Subway on Line 5 and walk up 50m. I wouldn't pay extra for the breakfast. Pretty weird.

Right next to subway
Overall, the hotel is fine. Not in a very impressive neighborhood, but the subway is a 30 second walk (right by the corner). I walked in pretty late on my first night, and the first thing I noticed was a rat running along the wall. That automatically gave me a bad impression, so needless to say I didn't try the breakfast. The room was clean and well-kept, but it seems like a really old hotel - the bathroom sink was hard to turn on, the shower had mold on it, and the bathroom smelled weird overall. The TV was huge...like it came from the '70s. The staff was friendly and helpful in pointing me to the subway (don't waste your time trying to hail a cab on weekdays), and I was able to stow away my valuables during the day in a safe downstairs. Overall, if you are looking for a cheap place to stay, I would recommend it. But definitely go in with LOW expectations.

Overall, for the price we paid, it was an ok stay. The mattresses were kind of hard. The breakfast food could have been hot/warmer, but there was a noodle and a rice/egg dish that were always at a good temperature. The raisin bread on the breakfast menu was always tasty. The air conditioning only works on low and there were times when we didn't feel the air at all. The window we were promised was enclosed so we could not view the outside. It had some kind of covering over it, but no breeze through that area either. I would, however, give the staff 100%. They were able to communicate with us and provide us with whatever we requested. The location was in excellent proximity of the shopping areas we wanted to visit.

Great location.
We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights. It is very close to subway station but very quiet. The staffs were nice and helpful and the service was good. A free safe was available at guest service center. A little drawback was the facility - some smell when first entered the rooms but went away after vent is on for a while. I think it was because of the carpet and the age of the building. Our rooms were on 2nd floor. Not bad at all.

A bit hard to find, but good location
We took some time to locate the hotel, like what some other reviewers wrote. It was inconspicuous, although it is along the main road. The problem is that the road on which the hotel is located is very long, and this hotel is not well known among the taxi drivers. We like the travel services provided in the hotel. We joined a day tour to the Great Wall, because the sales manager told us that it is much more convenient and cheaper to join a day tour rather than to charter a vehicle on our own. The hotel personnel can converse in English, but it really helps if you can speak Mandarin, because they can make really good suggestions since they would be comfortable speaking to you. The hotel room is decent, as with the amenities. The television is the traditional CRT tube type, instead of a LCD TV. The signals were weak for most channels, and they do not provide satellite channels. The amenities provided were a little worn out. For instance, the bath and face towels seem fairly used, and while clean, they looked old too. One difference is that the hotel provides toothbrushes, something other hotels would usually not do. The beds are small though. They are queen size by Asian definition, but if you are a tourist from the Western countries, you would view them as twin size. Still, having two queen beds allows us as a family of four to sleep comfortably. But if our children were bigger, I don't think this is a good arrangement. You probably need to get two rooms instead.

Ping An Fu Hotel Beijing - very close to subway
This comfortable hotel is located very close to subway station Zhangzizhonglu, which makes it easy to get to all the main sites. The rooms are quite comfortable, and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, speaking reasonable english. Breakfast included bread and croissants, as well as rice or noodles with some additional dishes. During our stay we noticed they added a little more western type foods when there were more foreign guests. The hotel also looks nice from the outside, with the two lions on the front porch. There are many places in Beijing with two lions in front, though, so don't use this as your only navigational cue. On the negative side, the hotel is on a busy road which is not very interesting, but within a few metro stops and a little walk, or with a short taxi ride you can reach many interesting places, such as the Drum tower and Bell tower, and the nice Gulou street for shopping. The elevator is located at the end of a corridor on the left, and the breakfast room was on the other side of the hotel, on a floor up one level of stairs, which may be a point of concern to people with mobility problems.
