“A room with a view”
Simply loved this reasonably priced 5 star hotel. The only real short fall is with the hotel's lack of English speaking staff. However they made up for it by being so accommodating and going out of their way to help.
“Great New Hotel - Few minor adjustments needed to be superb”
This hotel is a resort and convention center only a few months old just off the second ring road in the southeast. Our first impression was less than favorable but read the whole review before deciding. Some construction is still going on outside. We had stayed at two other hotels before coming to this hotel so we had some expectations of our arrival. No one was at the door to help with bags or greet us. After we went inside their still was no one around to direct us or help with luggage. (The other two hotels had eager friendly people immediately at the taxi to help). When we checked in I asked about exchanging money and was told they did not do that. I was directed to go outside and walk down the street to a bank. This initially made me feel uncomfortable as it was our first time in the country with no language skills. (the other hotels offered this service). The inside of the hotel was very nice with marble everywhere and modern. Our room was great especially the pillow top bed! Walk in closet for clothes with two sets of drawers, robes hanging for us, safe, even a large umbrella if needed. Bathroom very nice with separate faucet for safe drinking water as well as bottled water. Lake view from our room looking out over nice park. Fitness Center and Pool wonderful! Room rate included huge buffet breakfast that would satisfy all tastes! Concierge was very helpful for getting directions and taxi. Everything worked out with currency exchange and friendly helpful people. YES
“Relaxing stay”
It is a very nice hotel for long-term stay. The location isn't central but the park nearby is really nice. The price is really good for the high quality. I will return if I get to visit Beijing again.
“A good hotel for returned (not the 1st time) visitors”
This hotel is located at the suburbs (near the 2nd Ring Road). It takes 15 min by taxi (when there is no traffic) to get to the center (Forbiden City et al) of the city. Finding the hotel can be challenging because the hotel name is not visible from the main (the 2nd ring road) road. However, if you mention the near by Cancer Hospital (Zhou Liu Yi Yuan) (every taxi driver knows the hospital) you will find the place easily. The hotel is very nice. The bed is comfy (not hard). Food (both western and Chinese) is very good although a bit pricy. Not everyone speaks English so patience is required sometimes.
“5 Star iffy”
We got incredible rates for this 5 star hotel off of Expedia. I think that they pack in people into the lower floors and 5 star up the upper floors. That said our experience was very good. The hotel is very near the Pangiyuan Market and a close taxi ride to the Pearl Market and the Temple of Heaven which we had great fun at both. The restaurants and services in the area are a little limited but everything that you would need I suspect. The bed is also supremely comfortable and far from the firmness we'd come to know at other Beijing hotels. There are a few little pet peaves that I had through my stay. One being that I couldn't use the pool without a swim cap. That seemed very silly. I don't have any hair. Also, the tub though quite luxuriant is small and for our bigger bodies, wasn't so easy to fit into or out of. The wifi and hardline are iffy though Skype did work for us most of the time. I recommend this hotel to any who are looking for a competitively priced hotel. The location is a little far from the center of the action though. Hailing a cab nearby was fairly easy with and without the help of the bellboys.
“Lake View Hotel”
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise considering the first impression was not the best. The hotel has a huge entrance and there was no bellman outside to direct us. However,t eh room was exceptional and if you have the BUsiness Executive room the Executive lounge on the top floor not only offered great service and comfortable meeting areas but has a spectacular view of the area (28th floor), The hotel is on the south side of Beijing so it is about 1 hour from the airport by taxi. There are no metro lines that come out this way so you have to take a cab in to downtown if you want to see the sites. It is about a 15 min. cab ride from Beijing South Railway station. The Breakfast was good and plentiful. The climate in the rooms was pretty war, so we opened a window each night to cool it down even though it was March. There is a nce little park across the street that you can walk in but they do charge a small fee to go access it. Overall it was a very nice hotel and a metro line within walking distance would make it more accessible to downtown.
“Very Comfortable, Clean, Affordable, Upscale Hotel”
An excellent hotel, very comfortable and attractive, with countless amenities, clean, and an excellent breakfast buffet. It's a tad out of the way, but traveling with a native Mandarin speaker alleviates all such problems. The separate tap for potable water was a nice touch. Given the price, I rate this an excellent value. English at the front desk was a little spotty, and the service, while very good, did not have the warm professionalism of what I consider a true "5-star" hotel. (There were no problems, and everyone was nice, but the very best are better than this.) The neighbrhood is not awash in "western fare": if you don't have a Chinese speaker in your party, it could be a little challenging. Excellent, soft, night-lighting, a lake view (someone complained of a "road-view" with a lake in the background, of course get a higher floor room for a better view), a secure in-room safe, and the obligatory glass between the bath area and the room proper, make this an excellent room for entertaining (although the shower is just a tad small).
“GOOD HOTEL”
GREAT VIEW, NICE AND CLEAN.
“Radegast Lake View”
Well, Lake View isn't the lake view one would expect. I mean you would expect a calm view of the lake between trees probably when hearing the name, but in fact the hotel overlooks a busy road, and then in the background there is a vision of a lake. Location of the hotel is ok - not in the heart of Beijing, but you can get wherever you need on taxi. It is cheap, but the traffic jams may really be annoying. The amenities of the room are good, but the breakfast is rather poor. It has all that Asian food, but for one looking for 'regular' food the choice is not rich. However, overall the hotel is fine. It has ATM, the staff are helpful, some of them even speak English :)
“No real complaints”
New hotel on 2nd Ring Road quite far out from centre of Beijing but taxis are cheap. You need to leave yourself 30 mins to get anywhere because of distances and to allow for traffic jams. Staff very willing to be helpful but on the reception desk (at night) not all have a good command of English. Poor reception on English language TV channels and not much choice if this is important to you. Leisure pool and associated facilities look good but I didn't have a chance to use them. Location might not suit everyone but the hotel is perfectly good in itself.
