Close to forbidden palace

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms are dated. Put coffee packets in the room. Not just tea.
Location: Palaces, Tiannanmen square, lots of dining
Thought the deposit was a little steep. Don't arrange for a ride to the airport with their car. About six times more than a taxi, 117 yuan regular taxi, 650 for hotel's, And they will get the taxi for you. Rooms are kinda dated

Wonderful hotel

I can't think of any hotel I've enjoyed more than Raffles. Our room was enormous and beautiful. The hotel is suffused with history. And the staff were so welcoming. We stayed two nights, then checked out to spend a night camping on the Great Wall, then checked back in for a night. When we returned we were welcomed back by name by several staff members who seemed genuinely happy to see us, and were given the same luxurious room we'd had previously. John the a Raffles ambassador was a fascinating man to talk to, full of advice about the city and knowledge about the hotel. I couldn't recommend it more highly. We asked for a room overlooking the main street and were pleased.

Great Hotel

The Raffles Hotel is a beautiful hotel in a great location. We could easily walk to so many places. The whole staff was very friendly and accommodating. Mr. Spooner was exceptionally helpful with great suggestions of places to visit or eat at. We would definitely stay there again if we are ever so lucky to return.

Perfect hotel in perfect location

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: It has style and a unique character. They make you feel welcome
Location: The hotel is ideally positioned for local sightseeing being only a 5 minute walk from Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.
Raffles in Beijing is one of the grand hotels in the world where they just know how to do things properly. The rooms are well appointed and large with comfortable bedding. The staff are friendly and bend over backwards to make things work. Excellent (but a little expensive) buffet breakfast.

Excellent hotel!

This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The lobby is world class, the rooms are immaculate, the staff is unfailingly polite and helpful, and the location is excellent. What's not to like? It will definitely be at the top of my list when I go back to Beijing.

Great staff

The room we booked (landmark heritage room) was large, comfortable and clean and the hotel itself is in a great location. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the staff of the hotel couldn't have been friendlier, more helpful or more professional. I would definitely stay here again if I visited Beijing!

great rooms & location but very poor services

Posted Jun 8, 2014
We stayed 2 nights with family of 4 in 2 business rooms last week. The rooms are great, large and luxury. Location is perfect. However, the services are really poor and facilities are out of my imagination. We checked-in at 10am and was informed the rooms will be ready at 2pm. This is kind of normal. However when we came back at 4pm, we were told that rooms were still not prepared and had to wait another 1.5 hours. Seeing our frustrations, the duty manager went up to the room and came back with message that rooms will be ready in 15 minutes. 20 minutes later, we went to collect the room keys but was informed only one room was ready. The room does not equipped with any tea/coffee which is out of our imagination of a 5-star luxury hotel. When I asked the housekeeping and was astonishingly informed that this is their standard practice because the hotel wants to save cost! They only provide when guests ask. Come on! Is this Raffles Beijing Hotel?? On the last day, we received 2 cans of biscuit with an apology note from the duty manager which warmed us a bit. However, when we checked out, the duty manager asked me if you have received the biscuit. This made me feel that the apology was not sincere at all. Who cares about the biscuit?? Anyway, this experience has ruined my image of this legend hotel which I stayed some 10 years ago (Beijing Hotel only at that time) when the feeling was so good then. I will not come back to this hotel anymore and will not recommend to my friends.
