“only good for overnight stay bot not longer.”
The view from my room window was a back yard of other buildings with a lot of trash, ruff of other buildings and the windows makes you fell like a prison because of the metal bars. All the carpets from the hotel including my room were covered with stain. The walls and sealing from the room, restaurant and hall are pealing off and not so much good care of the property. However, the hotel is close to all mayor terroristic attraction with in walking distance, places to eat and no need for taxi for shopping and sight scenery. The employees are nice and helpful.
“Surrounding area is not too hot”
Hotel was used to handling foreigners. Besides being in walking distance of Gu Gong (forbidden palace), the location is unfortunate...no please to eat or drink in walking distance.
“Great choice for budget travel!”
I found this hotel to be very nice for those travelers who are not in need of luxury. The room was very clean, the chamber maids were very helpful if you needed anything, and the hotel is well stocked with Asian and Western restaurants, lounges and bars. While it will help you to know Chinese, the staff will go to lengths to make you happy - an uncommon feature in other hotels! The staff in the front-desk do speak English well. The location is ideal for exploring center-north Beijing: Palace Museum is just a five minute walk, and Jingshan and Beihai parks are very close, as well as the National Art Museum. The best place to stay in Beijing is 28 Maoer Hutong, but the Red Wall Hotel will do nicely.
“only if you like to go by bus (as we did)”
in the back door of the forbidden city and in a walking distance from wonderful gardens. nice hotel (had some electrical issue). a lot of buses near by , very easy to travel.
“Great value for the money.”
This hotel was away from the high rise fast paced downtown. We were very close to the Forbidden city and Tiannemen Square. The Bell Boy, Patrick was extremely helpful. Watch our for the Chinese befrienders.
“Not very recomendable”
I mainly booked this hotel since it showed as the most picked in expedia. However, it called my attention why it appeared so, once I got there. We arrived at night, and it was really not a very friendly neighborhood. Taxi drivers never hear of it, they had to call to ask for info to arrive. The rooms are very very very small, dark, and old. Bellboys are nice, but that is all. The people that stay there, not very nice. But, it seemed to have a lot of guests, something must be right, but I could not find what. Breakfast, not an option there.
“For the price Redwall Hotel is ok, what you pay what you get”
Staff are slow and under train.
“Great location, nice neighborhood, perfect for Beijing....”
Well-appointed hotel, literally minutes from Forbidden City, in a quaint neighborhood with charm and ambiance. Staff were most helpful and knowlng, good restaurant with excellent breakfast. We would use the Redwall again without hestitation.
“satisfied and will recommend to my friends”
location good.. staff was good & helfpul although they still need more time with the english language.. the room was rather small but satisfactory considering the price.. the restaurant price was reasonable (breakfast) although I think the juices were seemed watered down.. I arrived midnight & by showing the hotel name and address to the taxi driver, he nodded & went straight to it as if he was very familiar of the place.. the bus stop is just a few meters away.. if you're healthy enough, you can walk to the north side entrance or rather exit (by Fong Shui you have to enter from the south of the "forbidden city"
“A very basic, convenient hotel, close to many tourist attractions”
This review is for a "Economy room". The size of the room is small by American standards but fair by non-American standards. My room had a flat panel TV, double bed, large windows, and small bathroom. The bed was firm but that is typical in Asia. The carpet in the room was dirty but they provide indoor slippers. There is a convenient store and a grocery store near the hotel (make a left if you're walking out of the front lobby). Overall, the service was excellent. A very convenient location (to Forbidden Palace, WangFuJing St., 15 min. walk to DongSi subway stop). I rate this place 5 Stars for location. If you're in Beijing to see the sites and just need a bed to rest, this hotel is IT.
