“food”

Breakfast buffet wasnt that great for the price, the food tasted like it was cooked the night before, and the juices were hotter than the teas/coffees. your better off going to get breakfast elsewhere if you can wait till the shops open at 9 or 10am

“Fourth stay here”

This hotel offers excellent value for money and whilst not exactly in the city centre, it is conveniently just 15minutes by bus outside the hotel. Furthermore, just a 10minute walk is the subway (line 5) with access to line 2 and the airport express train takingless than 1 hour in total. The rooms are a little small (for the economy) however, we do not stay in Beijing to live in the room and it makes no difference to us. Crucially the hotel offers free high speed internet access from the room meaning it is very handy for catching up on E-mails and checking out travel plans online i.e. online flight check-in. The bathroom contains all the complimentaries i.e. toiletries. The breakfast (GBP 4.00) is great value in such a hotel. This is our fourth stay and we always stay at this one hotel for a couple of nights between our twice yearly visits to Fushun. Just one tip: the hotel airport transfer service is a little expensive at 350 RMB per person given that the subway is conveniently located and if you really want to go door to airport or vice versa, a taxi outside the hotel can do it for less than 100 RMB (takes around 1 hour depending on traffic). Recommended.

“Location is really good”

Hotel is 5 minutes walk distance to Forbidden City, and wangfujing street(shopping and chinese food) Hotel stuff is very helpfull, and knows english, Not an exlusive hotel but you can find whatever you want inside the hotel. I've booked that hotel for 5 nights, and I didn't have any problem about the hotel employee or location of the hotel. You can ask everything about Beijing to hotel's bellboy, they know english very well and explain the touristic places on the map, also distance by taxi, and they book some theater shows (for ex...chinese opera or Kung Fu show) and tours (great wall, temples, summer palace....) Thanks Peter for everything (he is hotel's bellboy) :) I like this hotel and suggest you to book it, if you want to book a cheaper and clean hotel in Beijing Red Wall Hotel will be a good choise.

“Good value and convenient location for the non-demanding traveler”

This is a non-frills hotel which met all my needs at a good price and within a comfortable walk from the Forbidden City and Tianamen Square. Hotel personnel have limited English capabilities, making arrangements for tours and requesting tourism information somewhat difficult, but workable with a bit of effort. The restaurant is adequate, and satisfactory other options are close by. This hotel is ideal for the self-reliant traveler looking for good location and great price, but who does not expect a mint left on the pillow before bedtime.

“Great location. Good place for the buck.”

Make sure you have written in Chinese your hotel or at least the phone number so the taxi can call if he doesn't know the hotel. Also have written down the places you want to visit. Not many people speak English. If you are a guy, sometimes girls around town will approach you and be nice and friendly. You might even score a date and have a good time. But also you have to beware of those other girls who approach you by two for example and take you to eat. They will start ordering bottles of wine or even food to go and you have to just tell them nicely that you are not going to pay for that haha! Some bottles of wine can cost more than $100 but if you are willing to pay, cool, go for it. Just don't let them take advantage of a nice tourist like you ;) . Always bargain prices. I got a Chinese traditional shirt from 380Yuan down to 110 (like 13 bucks). A Great Wall picture book from 40Yuan to 20Yuan (like 3 bucks for a nice picture book). A bottled drink should cost less than 8yuan. I would get my MinuteMaid bottled orange juice for 4yuan. Always take taxis that have 2Yuan sticker on the window showing they are official. Some taxis will try to screw you with a fixed price when you can get a better deal with a metered taxi. I took a taxi from the Forbidden City to the Temple of Heaven for less than 50Yuan (around 6 bucks) and another guy first wanted to take me there for like 120Yuan, fixed rate. Just be careful with those things.

“You won't do better”

In terms of the whole package, this place really can't be beaten. The location is far better than some of the super-expensive western hotels west of the Forbidden City; hell, it's less than a minute's walk from the front door of the hotel to the F C's rear entrance! All Beijing's major parks are easily within walking distance, too, and taxis for everything else can be easily hailed from just outside the hotel. The staff try their best to accomodate you, and their command of English is far better than most of the reviews here lead one to believe. Our room was a little tight for two people, and it could have used a new carpet, but housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping us otherwise happy with the room. The room was equipped with a decent blow dryer, flat-screen TV, ridiculously cheap mini-bar, and a good personal electronic safe. The only complaint, which is purely personal, is that the breakfast buffet was God-awful, although lots of people seemed to enjoy it every day. Really, you'll have a tough time finding better value than this.
