Great location for high end hotel

Posted Nov 18, 2014
Cons: More taxis would be helpful sometimes.
Location: Right in front of a subway station. Subway is very cheap and the best way to get around. Easy to use (signs are in English), fast and extremely clean.
Staff is helpful. Rooms are large, very comfortable and very clean. Breakfast buffet is phenomenal.

Good location but badly in need of a spruce-up!

Posted Nov 10, 2014
Pros: Very convenient location
Cons: Facilities need to be refreshed!
Location: Didn't have time to explore much since I stayed only 1 night but there are some eateries and a convenience store around which is pretty convenient!
The hotel was in a very good location near to places I needed to go to and with the subway right at the doorstep, but facilities were very old and felt overdue for a major spruce-up! I especially didn't like the bed which was a bit too hard! Other than that it was an OK hotel...

Great value for the price

Posted Nov 4, 2014
Pros: Best part was the staff
Cons: The traffic noise was too much. Better noise insulation in windows would make big difference. The breakfast buffet was okay, the hot items were old.
Location: great location, easy access to sightseeing.
Great overall experience. Wonderful hotel staff, very attentive and helpful. Make sure to get a room in the back as the front is facing a busy street, and the noise never stops. I would expect a lot more of a breakfast buffet for that price.

Swissotel, Beijing

Posted Oct 25, 2014
Pros: 99% of things
Cons: Restauranr prices
Location: The main tourist things are not close by but taxis are very cheap. Get the proer meter ones and not the black private hire where the will charge you t
A top class hotel with great rooms and friendly, helpful, staff. English is always spoken at the desk. The rooms and decor are top class but the restaurant is expensive. We always ate out. The regular price is about £90 a night but we were amazed at the reduction through booking via Expedia. Rooms were first class but the mini bar items were expensive so don't get carried away with them. We made sure not to use anything at all. Complementary bottles of water, toothbrushes, etc. etc. All in all a great hotel and I would recommend it to anyone but book through a third party like Expedia and you'll get it a lot cheaper

Internet speeds are primitive.

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: The pool is small but clean. I am not from a country that requires you to use a swimming cap, so this requirement is annoying.
Cons: The internet is almost unusable in this hotel. If you are coming on business and need the internet, I would try to get a 4g modem when you get here.
Location: The hotel is conveniently located in Choyang with many malls and restaurants in walking distance.
I like this hotel because it is nicely run, had pretty good food and the staff are helpful. I also like the location with the subway line 2 just outside the front door. Very convenient! The surrounding area has a great selection of restaurants and bars.

Swissotel

Arriving at this hotel we were lookedafter from the start . We declined the breakfast even though it was offered at a reduced rate. The room wears spacious, well equipped and clean. In front of the hotel was a subway station so travel around Beijing could not have been simpler. I would definitely use this hotel again.

Hotel is okay but staff need to trust the guests

Posted Oct 8, 2014
Pros: I think rooms were good although water leakage was noticiable from the bathroom
Cons: Employ English speaking staff so they can assist foreigners
Location: Shopping is close by but you can easily get ripped off if you don't have negotiating skills. I have never seen like this in my life.
On my voucher it said two bottles of free water per day but I got charged for two bottles each day. Nonesense to keep the drinking bottles in the bathroom. At time of settling the bill, they could not understand or pretended not to understand and explain to me about the charges. For breakfast, true it said on my booking that I have to pay for it. They take your room number and show you the place to sit and keep coming to your table to pay the bill when you're not even done with your fruit or cereal round. I quit eating after two days. I think Chinese don't trust any foreigners and outside it's still horrible. Better to go in groups.

Lovely hotel

Posted Sep 19, 2014
Pros: Staff are extremely helpful and speak English. Especially some concierge staff.
Cons: Coffee at the coffee shop downstairs
Location: There is the local strip of club and bars ~2-3 blocks away from the hotel
The hotel is quite far from the city centre however, the subway station is directly in front of the hotel (no need to cross the road). Taking the subway is EASY and you can get to practically anywhere with the subway (Subway stations have English translations so easy to find your way around the city.

A comfortable hotel in the heart of the city

Posted Sep 18, 2014
Pros: The location was excellent for walking and public transport.
Cons: The hotel is a bit old and worn looking and the bathrooms need an upgrade.
Location: Sanlitun is within walking distance with shops, restaurants, bars, massage, markets etc. There is plenty to do here.
This was a convenient place to stay for the Sanlitun area. It was also right next to a subway station so easy to get about the city. We stayed on the Executive floor where there was great service, constant food and drink available and a business office. The staff were lovely - very obliging and helpful in everyday. The hotel itself is a bit old and worn but the rooms comfortable and a reasonable size. The breakfast was adequate but not exciting.
