“If you want to love Beijing, start with the Opposite House”

Exceptional architecture. Beautiful and minimalist bedrooms with all the comfort imaginable. Open doors and walls and you will find everything a five star hotel needs, including Bose speakers for your ipod. All the furniture of outstanding quality, and wooden floors you would like to have in your house. Great service, but the latin restaurant quite slow. Nothing like it in Beijing (and difficult to match anywhere)

“A Great Hotel - Definitely Worth Staying In”

This hotel is a great way to enjoy Beijing...it is near many restaurants, bars, shopping and sights and the staff are incredible. They arranged a fantastic trip to the Great Wall within 10 minutes (thank you, Calvin!) and all other services were great. The design is really great, the staff all speak perfect English.

“One of the world's great hotels”

Incredible four-day stay in a temple of modernist design. Hotel interior and room were pure eye candy. Played my favorite tunes from I phone onto the room sound system. Grabbed a beer from the free mini-bar. Slouched onto the best bed ever and just grooved that I was staying in such a cool place. Had dinner at Suweno twice - fantastic vibe and world-class Mediterranean food - I had been in Milano two weeks before and this was even better. Did everything the hotel had to offer from soaking in the wooden in-room tub to swimming laps in the architecturally signifant pool on the lowest level to sampling the first-rate wine menu at Mesh. The Opposite House is the perfect departure point from which to explore the new Beijing. I read other reviews before I went - my floors didn't creak and the blinds made my room go perfectly dark when I arrived. My only constructive criticism is that in a country of 1.2 billion, TOH probably doesn't need non-Chinese staff greeting travelers on arrival. The two Western staff that I encountered were a little bit off - taking a tiny bit off the luster of an otherwise golden experience.

Fabulous neighborhood -- high end shops, embassies, restaurants -- excellent breakfast (and complimentary!), complimentary mini-bar in the room, great workout facility, great, comfortable bed and pillows and wi-fi worked well throughout the hotel. The only quibble: the staff is easily challenged by quite mundane requests.
