NOT IMPRESSED, we were misled by the picture of grandness of the lobby!!Posted May 1, 2011
I agreed with the last 2 reviews, there are better hotels along Wangfujing Road and the nearby vincinity. We booked online into the standard room but were adviced to upgrade upon checking in only to find out the reason why when we entered the room. In our opinion, their executive suite is too small to be named executive, thus the standard room was worst. The lobby was deceivingly impressive on the website but their rooms are old, there are crack lines, dust on the window sills, spider webs on ceiling of the bathroom. It is definitely not worth the price we paid. The card keys are often not working, we have to get it re-programme at least 3 times out of the 8 nights we stayed there. There is no NON SMOKING floor in that hotel, even if you have a non smoking room, you still smell cigerate smokes on the bath towels and sometimes on lift lobby. Their breakfast is lousy, so lousy that we dare not try their restaurants for any meals. Some of the food provided were staled especially the bread and pastries.....slow in replenishing food when they were out. Take the advise, hunt around for other hotels nearby if you insist on staying around or on Wangfujing Road. Totally unimpressed with the room in Wangfujing Grand Hotel. Expedia might want to consider representing them, we felt deceived. Location is good, very convenient.

Wangfujing is good location , just not good hotelPosted Mar 15, 2011
There are better hotels in this area at slightly higher prices, that are not run down and provide such distracted service.

UnimpressedPosted Jan 11, 2011
In general the hotel was a decent place for a short term stay with close proximity to many of the historical sites in Beijing - however, there were other hotels in a similar price range with better appeal. The greeters were fairly pleasant and spoke a bit of English when you arrived, they otherwise ignored you upon leaving and entering the hotel - I guess one welcome per check-in is sufficient. As you entered the hotel, the lobby was decent and appeared grand, however that facade was soon lost during the process of checking-in, due to the lack of customer service at the check-in desk. The ladies at the desk were otherwise entertained with their colleagues, cell phones, other activities, and just looked bored out of their mind and really did not appreciate my interruption. The rooms, although clean and tidy, were much less than expected - wallpaper peeling, walls cracking, chipped counter-tops, smelly couches, dirty windows, and lack of any type of a view as promised in the description. The mattress was also like sleeping on the floor, so if you are looking for somewhere to rest your head comfortable, I would recommend Apparently there are 5 restaurants in the hotel - I was not advised at check-in. I did try the cafe in the lobby that offered a buffet style dinner, but this was not enjoyable because everything tasted stale. Wangfujing Grand appears to be a hotel on the decline and its rooms need of much improvement to retain the "Grand" in its name

Very good central hotelPosted Dec 28, 2010 on Hotels.com
The hotel was being refrubished while we were staying so that some of the public areas and facility were not available - this did not detract from our stay however - the staff were more than helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

nice place to stayPosted Nov 28, 2010
Location of the hotel is very convenient. There's a message clinic next buliding, a couple of resturants and a nice mall, all within walking distance. Hotel's condition is great with modern decoration. However, the staff could use a lot of training in English.

Wangfujing Grand HotelPosted Oct 29, 2010 on Hotels.com
This hotel is located on THE shopping street in Beijing and within comfortable walking distance to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. We upgraded for access to the business lounge and free breakfast. The lounge offered great window views of the Forbidden City and surrounding area and was a great place to relax and have some tea after a long day of sightseeing.

Good 3-Star Hotel.Posted Oct 10, 2010
A good 3-star hotel but definitely not 4-star. Only has buffet dinner, and food generally not good. Bathroom had no showel gel and with only a totally inadequate amount of foam bath instead. Shower curtain stank badly. Staff friendly and helpful. Good location for shopping.

conveniently located from everywhere in BeijingPosted Oct 8, 2010
This hotel is along side Wangfujing Business District. It means shops, restauranats, subway stations, hutongs are very much like a walking distance. We really enjoyed the hotel mainly because of the reason and also the staffs are very kind. I will recomend this hotel to my friends if they want to go to Beijing.

Good hotel - would recommendPosted Sep 10, 2010 on Hotels.com
As with all 4* hotels, there are certain expectations and this hotel certainly fulfilled them. Our room was an executive room which meant that breakfast was included. This was a good spread with both western and Chinese food. The room was nice and very comfortable although since there were two adults and one child we were constantly having to ask for additional toiletries since the cleaning staff never left sufficient quantities for three people. Also the bathroom needed a bit of an upgrade since paint was chipping and it was quite dim in there too. The A/C in the room was very effective and much needed in the 30+ degree temperatures. Overall the staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly but sometimes struggled with English which was frustrating since with a 4* you expect at least this much. Also the biggest disappointment came in the restaurant on the second floor of the hotel. This Chinese restaurant seemed like a 'safer' option for dinner than looking elsewhere since we expected the staff to speak English. However, this was not the case. None of the staff spoke English and it was extremely difficult communicating with them. This has to be the biggest disappointment. For a reputed hotel such as this you would expect staff to be able to speak at least basic English. In fact the doorman (who was extremely helpful, polite and friendly) spoke more English than the restaurant staff!! In terms of location the hotel is well located on Wangfujing Street which is bustling and has many shops and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. One thing to note is that the nearest subway station is a good 20 minute walk away... it is more convenient to get a taxi! So in all I would recommend this hotel since overall the service was good and we had a comfortable stay there.
