“Wonderful Belize Hotel”

This hotel went beyond our expectations. The pool is the most creative on the island, with a cozy bar in the center and places to lie in the water on lawn chairs. The grounds and rooms are immaculate, with excellent housekeeping service daily that even does your dishes in your private kitchenette--I've never been so impressed with housekeeping staff before. The three principal managers, Pedro, Nigel, and Roy, are gems and deserve raises. The diving is exquisite in the clearest of waters, even a short way from the hotel's pier, with free kayaks to use to do your own snorkeling. Don't ignore the in-house restaurant--the food is wonderful there, as well as where wireless is available.

“Absolute Paradise”

I cannot say enough about the fabulous hospitality we received during our stay at the Belizean Shores. Although the restaurant was closed during our stay, which was unfortunate, it was only a short walk to Captain Morgans or Journey's End, both of which were amazing. Everyone we encountered during our stay in Belize was more than helpful and extremely pleasant to deal with. The dive staff at the Belizean Shores (Tuff Enuff) was phenomenal. My suggestion is to take a cab to the water taxi dock in Belize City then the water taxi to the island of San Pedro (that is where the staff of Belizean Shores will meet you with a water taxi to take you to the hotel). It's an interesting experience and I'm glad we got the chance to see Belize City, but pay the extra money and schedule a puddle jumper to take you from San Pedro back to the airport. Well worth the additional money and the hotel will schedule everything for you! Absolute best pool on the island, you will have all the people you meet there jealous. Plus it never closes!!! The bartender is superb..we absolutely loved her! Management was super friendly, we even got the chance to make a dive with them one day! Free kyacks that you should definitely take advantage of! The diving is out of this world!!!! Overall, the best vacation i've ever been on! Belize is a hidden gem and the Belizean Shores is the only place to stay while you're there!!!! Can't wait to return!!!!

“Great Place, but Things I wish I knew Ahead of Time:”

Things we didn't know: flight to/from San Pedro cost $74US each. We used it for our return trip. For the more adventurous and fun at heart, a cab to the water taxi terminal, $25US (The driver will even make a quick stop for a 6 pack of cold Belikin Beer if asked -much cheaper than at the terminal-bring a bottle opener). Water Taxi to San Pedro, $10US each, about a 30min ride where you get to see the islands up close - this is more for the adventurous, esp if it rains. Can't recommend the Fishing/snorkeling/Beach BBQ excursion - it was fun, the guides were great, but there weren't enough poles for everyone (9 people booked and only 6 poles). Bring BUG SPRAY, esp after it rains & bring a RAIN PONCHO ($2 at Walmart, $7.50 at Capt. Morgans Resort which is the closest mini-mart a short walk down the bch) Bring as many non-perishables as poss. (bagels, crackers, etc) very expensive at mini-mart. Don't plan on renting a golf cart during rainy season - roads too impassable. Fido's fun but touristy. On West side of San Pedro a place called The Sunset is a nice quiet place to have a few drinks and watch the sun set. The food cost quite a bit more than expected - even the seafood which surprised me. DON'T request extra sourcream with you meal or appetizer- $4.50 US! The Belizean people are SO nice, polite and honest! We also met some great people at the pool from all over the US and have kept in touch with several. We had great experience. We will definitely return!

“Already want to return!”

What a great time. 7 days was just not enough. The rooms are huge and the grounds are kept perfectly. Service by every staff member was excellent. It is amazing how truly nice everyone is. The Tuff ENuff guys were great - Love Rico! The pool bar is great and the drinks were great. She is the best bartender around :) Nothing to improve on except maybe some covers for the boats in the event of an unexpected rain shower. MUST DO - snorkeling. It is the best ever! Where else can you be with sharks, sting rays, turtles, tons of different fish and coral. Amazing. Highly recommend the hotel. Great time!

“Wonderful Experience”

Belizean Shores was a truly wonderful experience that left both of us struggling with the idea of going home—so much so, in fact, that we paid the airline penalty to stay an extra day—an extra day which also allowed me to do the famous Blue Hole dive. While, as an earlier reviewer pointed out, Belize Shores is not exactly “upscale,” the rooms and grounds are both beautiful and impeccably clean and the service ranges from excellent to positively breathtaking (e.g., at about 5:00 PM one evening we discovered that the oven in the stove in our room was not working—in about 45 min. we had a replacement stove and an electrician to install it in our room and our supper was, at most, one hour late that night!). Our room was huge by resort (even five-star-resort) standards including an upstairs loft with two extra beds and an extra television and the decor of the room and the art it featured were tasteful and pleasing. Tuff Enough tours works out of a large kiosk on the dock at Belize Shores—you can have all of your charges for their services charged to your room incidental bill. I dove five days in a row with them and found their dive master to be extraordinarily courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. We went to different and interesting dive sites each day. Prices are reasonable and the manager combines helpfulness with a wonderful sense of humor. In short, this is a go-to place for anyone who enjoys diving!

“Belizean Shores Meets High Expectations”

After talking about our vacation for a month and working ourselves up into a frenzy of excitement, my husband and I set ourselves up for huge disappointment. It was wonderful to have our expectations met and maybe exceeded. I would call these units villas. We stayed upstairs. It seems that the upstairs units might be better - private veranda and a loft! My husband caught a nice sized fish off the dock and we cooked it up in the kitchen. We brought coffee, sugar and creamer bought fresh pineapple in San Pedro and enjoyed our breakfast on the veranda each morning. This was really a comfortable place. Great service and friendly people. The pool was clean. Grounds were well kept. Try the nachos at the Laguna Grill. Good Pizza at Pauly's Pizza down the beach from Belizean Shores. The view is obscured by palm trees but that didn't bother me. Try the night snorkeling trip. This place was ideal for us. We ate out only twice during our 7 night stay and cooked in the rest. Anyone looking for serious "nightlife" might want to consider something closer to San Pedro. Even if you stay at the Shores make a journey to San Pedro.
