“Few reliable hotels in Belize City, but this is not one of them!”
I just have to say, I am so disappointed in this hotel. This was one of the most expensive hotels I stayed at during my 10 days through Yucatan, Belize and Guatemala, and by far, the worst. NO Hot water. NO internet in room. NO breakfast included NO 24hr staff- had to ring bell outside for 15mins before someone finally opened the door. The rooms are extremely dated and old.
“Sketchy Hotel but freindly staff”
The Hotel is in a sketchy part of town that did not seem very tourist friendly. We were told the North side of the river disecting the City is nicer. Room rates were reasonable and the Hotel was close to a very fun bar call the Birds view Island bar or something like that. The AC did not work in our room but was quickly fixed. The rooms were not luxurious and reminded me of a motor lodge from the fifties. I would try to stay somewhere closer to the municipal airport on the water
“seen better”
the room i stayed in seemed like it was a permanent residence for a person who had vacated the room for our stay. there were personal effects and medication in the bathroom cabinet along with person pictures of babies. i wasn't expecting much from the room-- it served its purpose. wouldn't go back but you get what you pay for.
“Owner of the hotel is wonderful.”
Jeanette, the owner, is wonderful. She will take you to all your excursions in her air conditioned van, and suggest the best ones to go to. However, the hotel only has window air conditioners, and in the dining room, they only get turned on when you are there, so it is hot during the summer months. Room is very ordinary, but great TV channels, and the room cools down very fast.
“Basic, relatively inexpensive place to spend a night.”
This is a very simple, unpretentious hotel. Room furnishings are clean but shabby. The front door was kept double-locked and I was warned not to carry my purse where it would show. We were glad to be able to eat dinner and breakfast at the hotel rather than going out, although the neighborhood didn't look all that bad to me. The meals are rather pricey for the quality. The hotel is quite convenient to the water taxi dock.
“A place of peace and quiet, great for cost!”
I enjoyed our stay. We stayed in our room only at night, but the staff was helpful. Out of the way form the hustle and bustle of the city, but only a 5 minute walk. When staying here, you are renting a room, but the staff feels like family.
“Jeanette is wonderful.”
In addition to being a very welcoming hostess, Jeanette was a personal tour guide for us. She arranged the river trip to Lamanai, the cave tubing and then personally drove us to the zoo, introduced us to the owner, drove us to both the cave tubing sites and river tour sites and showed us all around Belize City. It was great to do these things with her on a weekend when the cruise ships were not in port. We had the tour locations almost entirely to ourselves.
“Lay over to catch a boat next day.”
The staff was really nice. The Inn was O.K for 1 night. It was nice that it had a resturant..
“Would use again”
Would use again because of how friendly Diane was. It was definitely not your first class American hotel but it certainly was good for a few nites. It had a restaurant right on the property which was quite good.
“Use this hotel if you're travelling on a shoe string”
The owner of the hotel is extremely nice and helpful, always there to ensure that her guests are contented and comfortable. Although a bed and breakfast, no problem having three nice meals. I felt very much at home and would definitely use this hotel again. If you're travelling on a limited budget, this is the place to stay. Although not a 5 star hotel, it's clean, the food is good, you get personal attention, and is located in a nice part of the city, not far from most places
