"Great Getaway Especially for Snorkelers and Scuba"
This resort is wonderful. The two bedroom villa was on the beach and everything worked just fine. Clean sheets, great towels, pillows, kitchen utensils, etc. You will be shuttled back and forth to town via water taxi--the hotels, scuba crew, etc-picked you up on the dock, and about 5-7 minute ride to San Pedro downtown. The downtown area is three streets, with a number of small grocery stores; excellent baked goods!!!. The dining was cheaper and much much better in San Pedro. Blue Water, Ramon's (the burritos and the fish chowder, outrageous), and Mango restaurants were all very very good and sensibly priced. All on the beach.
Three places were within walking distance from the Villa. All ok, not special, and overpriced compared to downtown. Weirdly, they all served Maxwell House rather then Belize coffee--to be had in a coffee shop downtown. Buy beans and make it yourself.
The support team at the La Perla (Enrique and Sergio (call me "Toshiba")) were some of the nicest people, ever. Genuinely polite, helpful. We asked for scuba recommendations, and they had Ramon's Dive Shop pick us up. Ramon's is the full boat, multi-layered scuba shop, with big to little boats, and experienced and very very safe dive masters. They managed 1 hour excursions and 12 hour trips to the Blue Hole, the latter of which was a trip of a lifetime, seamlessly and without any mishaps. Best diving we have seen anywhere.

Mike and Jenny provided a welcoming and comfortable environment for me and my extended family.
The rooms are large, clean and well appointed.
The resort is well located, just a short trip up the Pine Ridge Mountain track, however if you're planning to hire a car, make sure it's a 4 x 4.
Gumbo Limbo is a great choice for jungle adventures in Belize.
We would definitely return.

From the time that we arrived until the time that we left El Secreto, each detail of our stay was thought of in advance.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Ken, Manager of El Secreto with watermelon drinks and refreshing towels after a very long journey. Ken is one of the nicest, professional and accommodating resort managers we have ever met. Upon walking on to the premises to check-in (which is paradise btw), we were given a 5 minute complimentary neck and shoulder massage... We knew then that we were in store for a truly relaxing experience.
The staff is beyond attentive, friendly and helpful with any need you may have. The rooms are designed for both romance and pure relaxation. The resort is extremely secluded and quiet but each villa also provides privacy with an enclosed outdoor shower and private hot tub.
The restaurant and bar serve up incredible drinks with very helpful staff to answer any questions along the way. Room service is also beautifully delivered for a relaxing dinner in your private villa. Ken, Sherry and Norvani were some of the most helpful people I have ever met while vacationing and ensured that our tour, requests and meals were well in order. The rooms are also amazing with King size Tempur-Pedic beds, controllable mood lighting, etc.
If you're giving the opportunity to stay for El Secreto, take it. The only problem is that you may never want to leave!
