Excellent rooms, great view

Posted Mar 31, 2015
We had a great room with a beatiful view. We stayed only one night after returning from a sailing trip. The restaurant is very good. The beach is fairly eroded, and the pool is small. However the room is very comfortable and overall very pleasent. Recommended for a shor stay.

Great place

Rooms were great, nice ocean view, good staff, you can even drink the water. I was told that is more pure than in Alaska.. Restaurant has good food. Golf carts available to ride into town. Wish we had more time to spend in Placencia.

Conveniently located near Moorings

Posted Mar 19, 2015
Pros: The staff were very personable and helpful.
Cons: I was disappointed in the beach, very sea-weedy.
Location: Lots to do...dine at many restaurants nearby, take a bike hike, go to Placencia, have a gelato at Tutti Fruiti there, go on a variety of tours
Staff were very accommodating. Bicycles were available for the easy four mike ride into Placencia, or going the opposite direction to Maya Beach. The pool was lovely and we enjoyed the tours from the resort, one to the Monkey River to see the howlers and another to the Mayan ruins and the cocoa farm. The Moorings was right across the street, easy to access for our catamaran tour.

Hang out and be lulled by waves 24 hrs

Pros: everything but the beach
Cons: some work on the beach and definitely doing something with seaweed during the time it gets all over
Location: several restaraunts
Great place, great staff, beach is quite eroded and does not look like pictures in the least. Sea grass or seaweed was all over but everyone said this was just a couple of weeks per year when the winds blew a certain way--unfortunately it was like this all week not just at Laru Beya but really all over the peninsula. Some of the hotels at least moved it out of the way, removed it for the day, etc., but this one did not. Because the sea was so choppy, it was difficult to see through the water--snorkeling etc. could not be done unless you took a rough ride out to the cayes.Several very good excursions are offered and we took advantage of. With a golf cart it is easy to get around the entire peninsula. The pool, staff, restaurant, suite, were all fabulous!

Nice experience

Pros: infinity pool, restaurent, jaccuzzi rooftop
Cons: jaccuzzi was not working
Very nice welcome from all staff. Great drinks and food. Pool and beach very clean, the room too. We had a room at the 3rd floor with nice patio facing ocean. Access to a rooftop jaccuzzi but it was out of order. Nice view. Nice big shower.

Wonderful stay

Posted Oct 21, 2014
Pros: Cleaniness, service, helpfulness, great food
Location: Close to airport, close to 2 towns for shopping, chocolate factory tours, diving, snorkeling, ruins tours, biking, monkey river tour, too many to name
Our condo was one of the nicest we have stayed recently and on the ground level. We were basically right on the beach so just either lazed on our deck in the hammock and bench swing, swam in the pool just steps away or sat in the sun on the beach, but of course numerous other activities like diving and snorkeling. The weather wasn't great for swimming in the sea for the second week we were there which for Belize is rare but it happens. Kayaking all around, sailing, biking, tours, diving, snorkeling - you can do it all which we almost did! The beach was cleaned every day even with the storm that moved in. The staff are fantastic and very helpful and knowledgeable and the meals at the restaurant great. If you want somewhere to go to for R&R plus learn about Belize and its' people this is the place. Close to everything you would need.

Welcoming, Accommodating, Immaculate

The staff at Laru Beya was incredible and the primary reason we give this hotel a "5" overall. Our baggage was lost, and all hotel employees offered to assist in finding it while we tried to enjoy our first couple of days. The one-bedroom suite was huge and extremely clean. We loved the balcony with lounge chairs and hammock. Golf carts for rent and free kayaks are nice bonuses, especially because this property is not very close to Placencia Village or other properties to the north. Others have mentioned erosion of the beach at Laru Beya, and we found this to be true of ALL beaches in Belize. There are many other things to enjoy beyond lying on a pristine white sand beach (after all, you can do that in Florida!). Wonderful first trip to Belize, and we have Laru Beya to thank for that!

Great small hotel. I loved the beachfront rooms as I was literally 20 ft. From the water. The beach itself wasn't that great as far as your classic white sandy beaches go but still a nice place to lounge. FYI the beach gets nicer the closer you are to Placencia proper. Still overall a really nice place.
