Great hotel just a walk away from town squarePosted Aug 12, 2013
Pros: Everything! The rooms were comfortable, the bar was reasonably priced with great drinks and the food was delicious.
Cons: My only suggestion would be to inquire about adding a mini fridge in the cabins so guests can keep their drinks or leftovers chilled
Location: Only a few blocks away from the town square. It's a 10 min walk. Farmers market on the way. Kayaking down the Macal, iguana sanctuary, shopping
My husband and I took a trip to San Ignacio looking for land to purchase. We spent several days at Midas Resort while we were there and it was a wonderful place. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The grounds are beautifully kept and the rooms/cabins were extremely comfortable. The air conditioner in cabin number 17 worked quickly and we actually had to turn it down as we got chilled later in the night. The water was wonderful there and we drank straight from the supply and it tasted fine. We had lunch and dinner in the dining area and I must say...it was delicious. We actually waited while we were in town so we could eat at the resort. The pool is very clean and refreshing...especially the waterfall. We visited in the bar area several times while we were there and Thomas, the bartender, was extremely friendly and kept our drinks full the entire time while providing wonderfully entertaining conversation. We also had the pleasure of meeting, Mike, one of the owners and had a wonderful conversation about what the town had to offer to those looking to relocate. The resort is only a few blocks away from the town square which is easily within walking distance, but if you prefer to take a cab somewhere then the wonderful ladies in the front office can easily accommodate any needs you may have. My husband and I will be returning in December for an extended stay with our children and we will stay at Midas resort again. I highly recommend them.

This hotel is under renovation. You might want to upgrade to a newer room if you ae over 60. The staff were very good. They have a new chef who is really good. We enjoyed our stay. They need to upgrade their website so that people can book from it.

Top hotel in San IgnatioPosted Apr 14, 2013
Pros: pool, air conditioners
Location: Close to downtown and the market
Very comfortable hotel. Good food. Nice pool. Air conditioners worked very well. The staff is very nice and accommodating. Stayed in the deluxe room which was very comfortable. Just on the outskirts of town so only a 3 minute walk to the market and downtown. Would recommend to all travelers except someone on a very tight budget.

Decent spot - good value for moneyPosted Apr 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very clean, if basic, cabanas. Good, clean en-suite shower (but needed to wait 5-10 mins for it to warm up). Comfortable bed. Slept really well. Easy to walk into town for dinner (5-6 mins). Great excursions - hotel uses Elias for Tikal visit (good knowledge), and Daniella (friendly and safe taxi driver).

Excellent hotel and highly recommendedPosted Mar 26, 2013
I highly recommend staying in the cabanas at this hotel! The garden is absolutely beautiful and the cabanas are far removed from the bar and swimming pool area where it can get pretty loud in the evenings. The cabanas offer your own private little house complete with a hammock on the front porch and easy access to all the amenities. The swimming pool and bar area is clean and inviting. The location is perfect as it sits right on the outskirts of San Ignacio, making it easily within walking distance and accessible. The only downside is that the food and beverages on property are quite a bit more expensive than you can get in town although it is delicious.

Great Value and Good accomodationsPosted Mar 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
Midas resort is walking distance to the small, sleepy town of San Ignacio. It is a great value and provides a clean, modest place to stay in San Ignacio at a very reasonable price. You will likely want a car in San Ignacio, but the hotel is walking distance to the small sleepy town of San Ignacio, where there are a number of restaurants, shops, and supermarkets. Midas also has a restaurant, bar, and a nice pool where you can relax during the day. the front desk was very helpful in giving us tips for our day trips, and they provided daily housecleaning services. For a cabana in the middle of the jungle, this was a pretty nice place for a very reasonable rate. I am very glad I did not pay more than double the rate to stay at a remote jungle resort.

Midas was perfectPosted Mar 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
Excellent. i did my homework and stayed here. only a nice gentle walk from the main part of town. Staff was excellent, good food, nice pool, A/C. Stayed in a Cabana. Was here for thestart of the annual canoe race. Glad I did not stay downtown as those other hotels were right down town and therefor not what I wanted. Midas was exactly what I like and had a very pleasant stay here. I would highly recommend it .

Stay at Midas ResortPosted Mar 7, 2013
The staff were helpful, courteous, and accommodating. The location provided easy access to San Ignacio. The ambiance of the setting of the cabanas was wonderful with great bird life and a resident iguana and Jesus lizard.
If you really need to be in town vs junglePosted Feb 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
A bit hit or miss. We had confirmation for a deluxe king w patio and rec'd a room on second floor overlooking trash and no balcony. Room was clean and beautiful wood floors, updated shower. No phone, no clock, but new flat screen tv. Front desk staff ok- no explanation of property so we didn't even see breakfast area. Kitchen staff good. No lunch served when we were there. If you really want to be near town, then this is a possibility, otherwise... stay in the jungle and enjoy the experience.

Close to San IgnacioPosted Feb 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
My hut had 2 beds, one double and one twin size. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom and no knob to turn the water on in the shower, just a metal rod about 2.5 inches long. However the location being so close to San Ignacio city center (Burns Avenue) was very convenient for walking in to town to get a bite to eat. There was free WiFi but you could not access it in your room so had to go to the restaurant or bar or pool area and the front desk would give you a password to access it from one of those locations. The room was spacious and cleaned daily which was nice and the people couldn't be more friendly so eventually you could get past the little small details.
