"Mexico and Belize- a driving experience!"
I escaped the worst of the UK winter and flew to Cancun, where I took a coach to Merida, the state capital of Yucatan. I loved Merida, a very friendly city with music concerts in the parks most nights. Do yourself a favour and get out of Cancun and see this jewel! I rented a car determined to drive down to Chetumal and cross the border into Belize. Here they speak English, and all Brits can feel at home here! After all, it used to be British Honduras until, what 1981? I was worried about going into Belize City, which has a reputation for being dangerous after dark. It's not nearly as bad as is made out, but it's certainly poor and generally run down. It's benefitting from regular cruise ship visits, and I saw four in the bay on my first stay. The hotel is in the 'tourist' section, across the lane from the more sophisticated Ramada, but I opted for this wonderful Caribbean style hotel.

"Great Resort"
Great place to stay, the staff was excellent, everyone! it was close to many different adventures. The food was good. The only thing I would do is, add a small refrigerator to the rooms to keep things cold. We really enjoyed Edwin, loved his music, his attitude, and made awesome exotic drinks. thank you for letting us be your guests.

"Hopkins Bay was fabulous!"
This was our first trip to Belize and I am sure it won't be our last. The resort was beautiful, the staff was friendly and accommodating and the villas were beautiful! I was very surprised by the food. In all honesty, i was not expecting much but I was totally amazed at how good it was. Meals are prepared by a talented chef who obviously takes pride in their craft. The country is beautiful, underdeveloped but beautiful. Snorkeling in the Barrier Reef & a trek through the Monkey River jungle were alone worth the trip. Having pizza at the Driftwood should also be a must on your to do list.

"Relaxing escape"
Mahogany Hall was a beautiful small hotel located on the Mopan River outside of San Igancio. The food was amazing! We ate breakfast and dinner at Mahogany every night during our stay. All food was cooked to order with each individual guest's tastes in mind. It certainly lived up to the rating of #1 romantic resort. They even set up romantic tables along the river with messages written in fresh flower petals on the table. The staff was helpful in arranging transportation and excursions, including our amazing trip to the ATM Cave. They also dropped us off up the river with tubes and Belikins so that we could float back to the hotel. I highly recommend Mahogany Hall to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

"Great location and friendly staff!"
We loved Coco Beach Resort and were so happy we picked it for our stay on Ambergris Cay. The 2 pools were very clean and fun for our kids. We loved the pool restaurant and bar. We also loved the fact that we could rent a golf cart to go into town because there is a paved road from Coco Beach Resort into town. That is not the case with resorts farther north on the island. It was convenient to have the option to take a golf cart or water taxi.
